Ford Canada's 2023 towing guide documents a redesigned F-350 pickup selector. Across every printed alternative, SRW conventional ratings span 13,700–25,000 lb, SRW fifth-wheel ratings span 13,500–27,400 lb and SRW gooseneck ratings span 13,700–27,600 lb. F-350 DRW conventional values span 17,600–28,000 lb, fifth-wheel values span 17,400–35,000 lb and gooseneck values span 17,500–38,000 lb. Those are source boundaries, not one truck's capacity. The selector adds a 6.8L gas engine and high-output 6.7L diesel, removes the prior 6.2L branch and prints fifth-wheel and gooseneck values separately. Exact engine output, axle, GCWR, cab, drive, rear wheels, wheelbase, box, tire, Tremor or package condition and physical labels still control.
Direct answer: 2023 F-350 towing uses six result families
Start with SRW or DRW, then choose conventional, fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitching. The largest value in each family comes from a different configuration. A 38,000-lb gooseneck endpoint does not make 38,000 lb the fifth-wheel or conventional rating, and it does not describe every diesel dually.
After selecting the Ford cell, compare the installed hitch and trailer ratings with payload, GVWR, rear GAWR, tires, wheels and loaded GCWR. The lowest applicable vehicle, component or trailer limit remains the operating ceiling.
| 2023 F-350 family | All printed alternatives | Upper-end source condition |
|---|---|---|
| SRW conventional | 13,700–25,000 lb | 25,000: high-output diesel, Crew Cab 4x4 long box, tire-specific alternative |
| SRW fifth-wheel | 13,500–27,400 lb | 27,400: high-output diesel, Regular Cab 4x4, all-terrain-tire alternative |
| SRW gooseneck | 13,700–27,600 lb | 27,600: paired Regular Cab 4x4 gooseneck alternative |
| DRW conventional | 17,600–28,000 lb | 28,000: high-output diesel Crew Cab, either drive |
| DRW fifth-wheel | 17,400–35,000 lb | 35,000 occurs in several diesel F-350 cells |
| DRW gooseneck | 17,500–38,000 lb | 38,000: high-output diesel Regular Cab 4x2 |
Use Ford's exact cab, drive, wheelbase and box labels
The SRW table has ten body columns. Regular Cab is 141.6 inches with an eight-foot box. SuperCab uses 148.0-inch short-box and 164.2-inch long-box branches. Crew Cab uses 159.8-inch short-box and 176.0-inch long-box branches. Each cab family has 4x2 and 4x4 positions.
The combined DRW page alternates six F-350 columns with six F-450 columns. F-350 DRW positions are Regular Cab at 141.6 inches, SuperCab at 164.2 inches and Crew Cab at 176.0 inches, each with 4x2 and 4x4 and an eight-foot box. Carry the model heading downward before reading a value.
| F-350 branch | 2023 source positions | Box |
|---|---|---|
| SRW Regular Cab | 4x2 or 4x4; 141.6-in wheelbase | 8 ft |
| SRW SuperCab | 4x2 or 4x4; 148.0 or 164.2 in | 6.75 or 8 ft |
| SRW Crew Cab | 4x2 or 4x4; 159.8 or 176.0 in | 6.75 or 8 ft |
| DRW F-350 | Regular 141.6; SuperCab 164.2; Crew 176.0; each drive | 8 ft |
| Interleaved F-450 | Six separate columns | Excluded |
The 2023 SRW conventional matrix is not the 2022 matrix
Ford states that 2023 conventional trailer values are the same for weight-carrying and weight-distributing hitches. This changes the presentation from the prior guide's separate receiver-mode figures. It does not waive the installed receiver label or Ford's load-distribution instructions.
The row summary below retains every engine, axle and GCWR branch and the range of its printed body, tire and Tremor alternatives. It is a navigation table; the exact body cell must still be verified in the source.
| Engine / axle / GCWR | Printed conventional alternatives | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| 6.7L standard / 3.31 / 31,000 | 20,000–23,200 lb | Ten SRW body positions |
| 6.7L standard / 3.55 / 31,000 | 20,000–23,200 lb | Same endpoints; separate axle row |
| 6.7L high-output / 3.31 / 31,800 | 20,000–24,000 lb | Tire alternatives remain attached |
| 6.7L high-output / 3.55 / 31,200 or 35,200 | 18,200 Tremor; 20,000–25,000 lb main row | Two GCWR branches |
| 6.8L / 3.73 or 4.30 / 21,000 or 24,400 | 13,700–18,100 lb | New gas-engine branch |
| 7.3L / 3.73 or 4.30 / 25,200, 28,600 or 29,000 | 17,700–19,500 lb; 18,200 Tremor | Keep Tremor row separate |
SRW fifth-wheel and gooseneck results are separate columns
Ford prints a fifth-wheel value beside a gooseneck value for each 2023 body position. That removes the need to infer a blanket fifth-wheel cap from a combined cell. The high-output 6.7L / 3.55 / 35,200-lb-GCWR Regular Cab 4x4 position reaches 27,400 lb fifth-wheel and 27,600 lb gooseneck on its all-terrain-tire alternative.
Other high-output diesel positions on that row include distinct pairs such as 25,200/26,300, 24,200/25,300, 23,800/24,900 and 22,500/26,700 depending on body and tire. A nearby pair is not evidence for an unknown truck.
| SRW source group | Fifth-wheel range | Gooseneck range |
|---|---|---|
| 6.7L standard diesel rows | 20,100–23,700 lb | 21,100–23,800 lb |
| 6.7L high-output rows | 20,100–27,400 lb | 21,100–27,600 lb |
| 6.8L gas rows | 13,500–17,800 lb | 13,700–18,000 lb |
| 7.3L gas rows | 17,500–22,200 lb | 17,700–22,400 lb |
Tire and Tremor alternatives remain cell-specific
Footnote 1 identifies 18-inch all-season tires; footnote 2 identifies 18- and 20-inch all-terrain tires. Slash-separated figures can reverse which printed alternative is larger, so wheel diameter alone is not enough. Confirm the complete tire specification and source footnote attached to the chosen body cell.
Footnote 3 marks the Tremor Off-Road Package 17Y. Tremor creates separate 31,200- or 28,600-lb-GCWR results in marked high-output-diesel and 7.3L rows. It is not an arithmetic deduction that can be applied to every 4x4.
Complete 2023 F-350 DRW conventional matrix
The six value positions are F-350 Regular Cab 4x2, Regular Cab 4x4, SuperCab 4x2, SuperCab 4x4, Crew Cab 4x2 and Crew Cab 4x4. F-450 columns printed between these positions are excluded. Every value is pounds.
Package 68F alternatives stay in the marked Regular Cab 4x2 cells. A slash does not create a choice for a truck that is already identified with or without the Heavy Duty Payload Package.

Complete standard-output diesel DRW bed-mounted matrix
Each body entry is fifth-wheel / gooseneck. The 3.55 row uses 40,000-lb GCWR and the 4.10 row uses 43,900 lb. Package 68F alternatives appear only in the first body position and remain paired by hitch method.
The 4.10 row reaches 35,000 lb fifth-wheel in five F-350 positions, while its gooseneck values range from 35,200 to 36,500 lb when the marked package alternative is included.

Complete high-output diesel DRW bed-mounted matrix
The high-output 3.55 row is rated at 40,500-lb GCWR and stays below 33,000 lb in every F-350 gooseneck cell. The 4.10 / 45,600 row raises gooseneck results sharply while its F-350 fifth-wheel values top out at 35,000 lb.
The 38,000-lb endpoint is the Regular Cab 4x2 gooseneck value. Its paired fifth-wheel value is 35,000 lb. Crew Cab 4x4 is 34,700 lb fifth-wheel and 35,800 lb gooseneck, demonstrating why the headline cannot be transferred across body columns.

Complete gas DRW bed-mounted matrix
Gas rows preserve the same fifth-wheel / gooseneck order and six F-350 body positions. The 6.8L Regular Cab 4x2 cell contains a separate 68F alternative; no other gas cell receives that package value by inference.
These rows provide exact gas evidence rather than using the diesel maximum as a generic dually rating.

Package 68F is an alternative, not a universal reduction
Ford identifies 68F as the Heavy Duty Payload Package. On the DRW page it creates marked alternatives in Regular Cab 4x2 cells: for example, standard-diesel conventional changes from 24,800 to 18,200 lb, while its 3.55 bed-mounted pair changes from 32,300/32,500 to 32,400/32,600.
The direction and size of the change depend on row and hitch method, so there is no reusable 68F subtraction. Confirm the build record and read the exact printed alternative.
The 40K package and 40,000-lb result belong to F-450
Footnote 2 identifies package 535 as the 40K Gooseneck Tow Package. The only 40,000-lb cell on the reviewed combined page is in an F-450 Regular Cab 4x2 column on the 48,000-lb-GCWR row. It is not an F-350 option or result.
Other excluded F-450 bed-mounted values include 38,600 lb, 36,900 or 36,800 lb, and interleaved 35,000-lb fifth-wheel cells on F-450-only rows. The 30,000-lb conventional cells also sit under F-450 Crew Cab headings.
Payload and rear-axle load can decide usable capacity
Ford uses 10% of loaded trailer weight for conventional tongue-load planning and 15% for fifth-wheel or gooseneck pin-load planning. Fifteen percent of 35,000 lb is 5,250 lb, and 15% of 38,000 lb is 5,700 lb. Those calculations show load scale; they do not grant capacity.
Transferred trailer load shares carrying allowance with occupants, tools, auxiliary fuel, cargo, options and hitch hardware. Measure the combination and compare actual rear-axle load, total truck weight and combination weight against the labels and selected source cell.
GCWR selects a row but is not trailer capacity
GCWR limits the loaded truck and trailer together. It identifies the Ford row alongside engine and axle, but it is not the same number as maximum loaded trailer weight. Subtracting a brochure curb weight from GCWR can overstate a real truck because people, fuel, options, cargo and hitch equipment add mass.
Use the selected trailer cell with loaded scale tickets. Check total combination, front axle, rear axle, GVWR, both GAWR values, tires, wheels, receiver or bed hitch and trailer components; the lowest limit governs.
Bed-mounted capacity does not prove physical clearance
The SRW selector includes 6.75-foot boxes, while the reviewed F-350 DRW columns use eight-foot boxes. A published fifth-wheel or gooseneck weight does not establish cab, bed-rail, tailgate or trailer clearance through tight turns and grade transitions.
Measure the installed hitch location, trailer overhang and articulation envelope. Manufacturer-approved sliding or offset hardware may change geometry, but it cannot raise the truck, axle, tire, hitch or trailer rating.
Build an exact 2023 configuration record
Confirm the truck is a 2023 F-350 pickup rather than F-450, chassis cab or altered incomplete vehicle. Record SRW or DRW; 6.8L gas, 7.3L gas, standard-output 6.7L or high-output 6.7L diesel; axle ratio; GCWR; cab; drive; decimal wheelbase; box and hitch method.
Then resolve tire footnotes, Tremor 17Y and package 68F from the VIN-linked build record and physical labels. Keep the rating unresolved when a selector is unknown rather than substituting a nearby body or powertrain.
Use Canadian labels and loaded scale weights
The exact configuration tables come from Ford Canada's model-year guide, but the guide still cannot certify an unseen Canadian VIN. Photograph the Safety Compliance Certification Label and tire/loading label, obtain the original build record and check the installed hitch label and any alteration history.
Weigh the truck with its real passengers, fuel, cargo and bed equipment, ideally with separate axle readings. Market-specific registration, licensing and commercial operating rules are separate from this capacity comparison.
The redesign makes copying 2022 especially unsafe
The 2022 selector includes 6.2L, 7.3L and one 6.7L diesel branch, combines fifth-wheel/gooseneck cells with marked method caps and prints separate conventional receiver modes. The 2023 selector removes 6.2L, adds 6.8L and high-output 6.7L, separates bed-hitch methods and states conventional carrying and distributing values are equal.
Those structural changes prevent row copying even where a cab name looks familiar. The 2022 page remains a sibling for change comparison, not a source for 2023 blanks, packages or limits.
Gas and diesel choices need whole-truck evidence
The high-output diesel produces the largest reviewed F-350 values, but a maximum alone does not choose the best working truck. Gas and standard-output-diesel rows have different GCWR, truck mass, payload margin, purchase context and maintenance needs.
Compare candidates against the same loaded trailer, passengers, cargo, hitch and route. Condition, service records, modifications and current faults remain separate research; this guide does not rank reliability or predict failure.
Source method and claim limits
Every configuration figure comes from Ford Canada's 49-page 2023 RV and Trailer Towing Guide. Printed pages 29–31 were rendered at 180 dpi and visually reviewed on 13 September 2026; the downloaded document was verified with SHA-256 120308d3e27603e8f9f7a20a97878c70bc6a030eac80d6819679cf6e759357fb. Ford states that the ratings use the SAE J2807 method.
No value transfers to another year, model, chassis cab, incomplete or altered vehicle, unknown package or unmatched hitch. The evidence does not establish Canadian VIN status, reliability, failure rates, condition, inventory, seller, dealer count, price, financing or offer.
2023 F-350 towing questions and conclusion
What is the maximum 2023 Ford F-350 towing capacity? The reviewed pickup tables reach 25,000 lb conventional, 27,400 lb fifth-wheel or 38,000 lb gooseneck, each in a different configuration. Is fifth-wheel capacity also 38,000 lb? No; the paired maximum-row fifth-wheel value is 35,000 lb.
Does every high-output diesel dually tow 38,000 lb? No. The 4.10 DRW row varies by cab, drive and hitch method, including a 34,700-lb fifth-wheel and 35,800-lb gooseneck Crew Cab 4x4 pair. Keep F-350 separate from F-450 and verify every selector, label, hitch and loaded axle weight.
Evidence note: manufacturer documents establish the specific facts and applications cited. Buying workflows and cost scenarios are DieselTrucks.ca editorial guidance. These pages do not publish measured failure rates or confirm the condition, recall status or capacity of a particular truck.
