DieselTrucks.ca does not currently publish a market index. Until genuine marketplace data is substantial, this section explains the factors buyers and sellers should compare.
Vehicle factors
Model year, kilometres, truck class, engine generation, trim, cab, bed, drivetrain, SRW or DRW and condition all shape comparability.
History and regional factors
Service documentation, accident history, modifications, work use, corrosion, province, season and local demand may influence buyer interest.
How to evaluate market data
Compare dated figures from a defined set of comparable vehicles. Check the region, sample size, truck configuration and whether a figure describes asking prices or completed sales before applying it to your purchase.
Build a comparable set before finding a price range
Record dated advertisements for trucks with similar model year, class, engine, cab, bed, rear-wheel arrangement and condition. Keep seller location and significant equipment in the sheet. Asking prices show what sellers request; they do not establish completed-sale values.
| Comparison field | Why to record it |
|---|---|
| Date and region | Prevents mixing stale advertisements with current local offers |
| Configuration | Separates materially different truck packages |
| Service and condition | Identifies repair exposure hidden by similar kilometres |
| Body, hitch and accessories | Values equipment useful to the buyer |
Compare ready-for-use cost
Add travel, inspection, transport and diagnosed initial work to each candidate. Remove the value of accessories you would replace and keep unresolved faults separate. A lower asking price may cease to be a saving after those items are included.
DieselTrucks.ca does not publish a transaction-price index. Editorial catalogue values are not a measured market range. Use your dated comparable set and actual quotes as planning evidence, then verify the individual truck before agreeing a price.
