Ford's official 2020 towing guide separates the F-350 pickup into four configuration families. Published SRW conventional alternatives run from 12,000 to 20,000 lb, while SRW fifth-wheel/gooseneck alternatives run from 11,900 to 22,800 lb. F-350 DRW conventional values run from 12,100 to 21,200 lb, and DRW fifth-wheel/gooseneck values run from 12,000 to 35,750 lb. The 35,750-lb endpoint is a gooseneck result for an F-350 DRW Regular Cab 4x2 with the 6.7L diesel, 4.10 axle and 43,400-lb GCWR. Ford caps fifth-wheel use of marked DRW gooseneck rows at 32,500 lb and marked SRW rows at 19,000 lb. The adjacent 37,000-lb value belongs to F-450, not F-350.
Direct answer: four 2020 F-350 rating families
Choose SRW or DRW first, then conventional or bed-mounted hitching. Each endpoint belongs to a particular engine, axle, GCWR, cab, drivetrain, wheelbase, box and equipment combination. No single maximum describes every 2020 F-350.
Ford's bed-mounted tables combine fifth-wheel and gooseneck results, but marked gooseneck cells can exceed the permitted fifth-wheel hitch value. Payload, rear GAWR, GVWR, tires, receiver or hitch, trailer and loaded GCWR remain separate limits after the table row is found.
| 2020 F-350 pickup branch | All published alternatives | Upper-end boundary |
|---|---|---|
| SRW conventional | 12,000-20,000 lb | 20,000 in selected diesel long-box positions |
| SRW fifth-wheel/gooseneck | 11,900-22,800 lb | 22,800 is gooseneck; marked-row fifth-wheel cap is 19,000 |
| DRW conventional | 12,100-21,200 lb | 21,200 in selected diesel positions |
| DRW fifth-wheel/gooseneck | 12,000-35,750 lb | 35,750 is gooseneck; marked-row fifth-wheel cap is 32,500 |
Match the body column before the engine row
The SRW tables contain ten pickup configurations. Regular Cab uses a 142-inch wheelbase and eight-foot box. SuperCab uses 148-inch short-box or 164-inch long-box layouts, and Crew Cab uses 160-inch short-box or 176-inch long-box layouts; each is divided into 4x2 and 4x4.
The combined DRW page interleaves F-350 and F-450 columns. The six F-350 positions are Regular Cab 4x2 and 4x4 at 142 inches, SuperCab 4x2 and 4x4 at 164 inches, and Crew Cab 4x2 and 4x4 at 176 inches, all with eight-foot boxes.
| Wheel arrangement | Cab / drive / wheelbase branches | Box coverage |
|---|---|---|
| SRW Regular Cab | 4x2 / 4x4; 142-in WB | 8-ft box |
| SRW SuperCab | 4x2 / 4x4; 148- or 164-in WB | 6.75- or 8-ft box |
| SRW Crew Cab | 4x2 / 4x4; 160- or 176-in WB | 6.75- or 8-ft box |
| DRW F-350 | Regular 142; SuperCab 164; Crew 176; each 4x2 / 4x4 | 8-ft box |
| Interleaved F-450 | Regular and Crew Cab 4x2 / 4x4 columns | Excluded from F-350 answers |
Complete F-350 SRW conventional matrix
Unlike Ford's 2019 table, the 2020 conventional table restores separate maximum weight-carrying and maximum weight-distributing results for every body position. Each cell below is written carrying / distributing. Five grouped body columns preserve all ten SRW configurations.
Slash alternatives inside one carrying or distributing position remain tied to Ford's tire, six-speed transmission, package 68L or Tremor notes. They are not extra body columns and cannot be selected from the engine badge alone.

The 7.3L gas engine is new exact-year evidence
Ford's 2020 guide adds 7.3L gas rows beside the continuing 6.2L gas and 6.7L diesel families. The 7.3L appears with 3.73- and 4.30-axle branches and 23,500- or 27,500-lb GCWR in the SRW conventional table.
This is not a reason to copy the 7.3L row backward into 2019 or to substitute it for a 6.2L truck. Model year, engine, axle and GCWR must all match. Equal 15,000-lb cells in different rows remain separate configuration evidence.
F-350 SRW fifth-wheel and gooseneck selector
The bed-mounted table uses the same ten body positions. The rows below show the primary Ford value for each grouped position and summarize printed lower alternatives rather than discarding them. A range within a body group means tire, transmission, package 68D, package 68L or Tremor conditions change the exact cell.
Diesel primary results reach 22,800 lb in Regular Cab 4x2 and step down across other bodies. Marked high values are gooseneck results; fifth-wheel use is capped at 19,000 lb even when the printed gooseneck figure is higher.

Packages, tires, transmission and Tremor stay with their cells
Package 68D is Ford's 10,000-lb GVWR package in the reviewed source; package 68L is a distinct 11,400-lb GVWR package. Their lower alternatives occur in selected diesel cells and must not be applied across an entire cab or axle row. The source also marks 17-, 18- and 20-inch tire conditions.
A six-speed alternative appears in selected 6.2L rows, while Tremor package 17Y marks particular 4x4 cells. These identifiers are selectors, not promises that a badge, wheel diameter or transmission description alone proves the whole rating branch. Use the build record and physical labels.
Complete F-350 DRW conventional matrix
Each cell is weight carrying / weight distributing, in the six F-350 column order: Regular Cab 4x2, Regular Cab 4x4, SuperCab 4x2, SuperCab 4x4, Crew Cab 4x2 and Crew Cab 4x4. Ford's 2020 table restores the receiver-mode distinction and adds two 7.3L gas rows.
The 6.2L 4.30 row at 20,000-lb GCWR publishes only a six-speed Regular Cab 4x2 cell; the remaining F-350 positions are source blanks. They remain blank rather than inheriting values from the 23,500-lb-GCWR row.

Complete F-350 DRW fifth-wheel and gooseneck matrix
Values remain in the same six F-350 body positions. The 6.7L 4.10 row contains gooseneck-marked primary values and lower package-68L alternatives; it is the only F-350 row that reaches 35,750 lb. Fifth-wheel use of marked gooseneck cells is capped at 32,500 lb.
Dashes in the 20,000-lb-GCWR 6.2L branch are genuine source blanks. Package values stay attached to the body cells where Ford prints them; a lower Crew Cab package result cannot be reassigned to a Regular Cab.

The 37,000-lb value belongs to F-450
Ford's combined DRW page places F-450 columns between F-350 columns. The 37,000- and 36,400-lb values in the 45,300-lb-GCWR row belong to F-450 Regular Cab positions. The 34,600- and 32,600-lb values in the 43,500-lb-GCWR row belong to F-450 Crew Cab positions.
The highest F-350 value is 35,750 lb, in the Regular Cab 4x2 diesel 4.10/43,400-lb-GCWR cell. Reading the model labels above the interleaved columns prevents both an overstatement and an accidental transfer from another truck class.
Fifth-wheel and gooseneck ceilings remain different
Ford marks high SRW bed-mounted cells as gooseneck and limits fifth-wheel use to 19,000 lb. It marks the highest DRW cells as gooseneck and limits fifth-wheel use to 32,500 lb. The shared table heading does not erase those lower method-specific caps.
Use the lowest applicable limit from the truck table, receiver or installed hitch, ball or coupler, trailer, tires, wheels, axles and current law. Changing hitch style does not raise payload, rear GAWR, GVWR or the rating printed on another component.
Tongue and king-pin load consume payload
Ford uses 10% of loaded trailer weight as conventional tongue-load planning and 15% for fifth-wheel king-pin load. Passengers, cargo, options and hitch hardware join transferred trailer load on the truck and must fit within payload, rear GAWR and GVWR.
At the 32,500-lb fifth-wheel cap, 15% is 4,875 lb before occupants, cargo or hitch equipment. At the 35,750-lb gooseneck endpoint, 15% is about 5,363 lb. These are arithmetic illustrations, not permissions; actual load distribution and loaded axle weights must be measured.
GCWR is not trailer capacity
GCWR limits the loaded truck and loaded trailer together. It is not the allowable trailer weight by itself. Subtracting a catalogue curb weight can overstate working capacity because occupants, fuel, equipment, cargo and hitch hardware add to the actual truck.
After matching the Ford row, weigh the loaded combination and both truck axles. Check GVWR, front and rear GAWR, tires, wheels, receiver, installed hitch and trailer limits independently. The lowest applicable limit controls.
Tailgate height is a reference, not a fit guarantee
Ford prints a 56.7-59.7-inch F-350 SRW tailgate-height band and a 58.1-58.9-inch DRW band at base curb weight. The values are measured from the ground to the top of the closed tailgate and can vary with configuration.
A towing number does not prove clearance to a fifth-wheel overhang, bed rail, cab or tailgate. Measure the loaded truck and trailer through the intended articulation range. Offset or sliding hardware cannot increase Ford's vehicle, axle or hitch ratings.
Identify the exact 2020 row
Confirm a 2020 F-350 pickup first; exclude chassis-cab and F-450 columns. Record SRW or DRW, 6.2L gas, 7.3L gas or 6.7L diesel, axle ratio, cab, 4x2 or 4x4, wheelbase, box, conventional carrying or distributing, fifth-wheel or gooseneck method, and the GCWR row.
Then resolve package 68D or 68L, Tremor 17Y, tire notes, six-speed alternatives and any source dash from VIN-linked build records and physical labels. If one selector remains unknown, keep the rating unresolved instead of taking the largest nearby number.
Canadian trucks require exact-vehicle evidence
The capacity matrices are Ford-authored 2020 U.S.-market evidence. Ford's owner manual covers Canadian and U.S. operating context, but neither source proves that every U.S. table branch was offered identically on an unseen Canadian truck. Ford Canada's towing page is a current documentation handoff, not a transfer rule.
For a Canadian candidate, verify the certification and tire labels, VIN-linked build record, axle code, hitch label and alteration history. Resolve any conflict between market documentation and physical records before loading or towing. This page does not determine provincial registration, licence or commercial operating rules.
Labels and loaded scale weights close the calculation
Ford's catalogue row is only the first gate. Photograph the Safety Compliance Certification Label and tire/loading label, record the installed hitch rating, and weigh the truck with the fuel, occupants, cargo and hitch equipment it will actually carry. Obtain separate front- and rear-axle weights where the scale supports them.
Compare the measurements with GVWR, both GAWR values, tire and wheel limits, payload, loaded GCWR and the selected trailer row. Options, tools, auxiliary fuel, bed equipment and trailer pin or tongue load all consume the truck's carrying allowance; a brochure maximum cannot replace this vehicle-specific check.
Gas and diesel need whole-truck comparison
The diesel produces the highest gooseneck results, while the new 7.3L gas rows broaden 2020 choices. Engine choice also affects empty weight, payload margin, axle and wheel availability, maintenance and acquisition cost. Peak output alone cannot determine usable pin or trailer load.
Compare exact candidates against the same loaded trailer, passengers, cargo, hitch and route. Keep paper capacity separate from mechanical condition and maintenance history; these tables do not rank reliability, predict failures or value a used truck.
Source, revision and claim limits
The figures come from Ford's official 44-page 2020 RV & Trailer Towing Guide, visually reviewed on printed pages 24-26 on 13 September 2026. The downloadable document carries an August 2022 revision date. Ford's second-printing 2020 Super Duty owner's manual supplies exact-year loading and label context.
No value transfers to 2019, 2021, another F-Series model, chassis cab, altered truck or unmatched hitch. The evidence does not establish Canadian VIN status, reliability, failure rates, condition, inventory, sellers, dealer counts, prices, financing or offers.
2020 F-350 towing questions and conclusion
What is the maximum 2020 Ford F-350 towing capacity? The reviewed pickup tables reach 20,000 lb conventional, 22,800 lb SRW gooseneck or 35,750 lb DRW gooseneck, each in a different configuration. Is fifth-wheel capacity also 35,750 lb? No. Ford limits marked DRW gooseneck rows to 32,500 lb for fifth-wheel use and marked SRW rows to 19,000 lb.
Does every 2020 diesel dually tow 35,750 lb? No. The complete 4.10 DRW row runs from 28,900 to 35,750 lb when printed package alternatives are included. Select only the six F-350 body columns, keep package and hitch-method conditions attached, and confirm labels, payload, rear axle and loaded weights.
Evidence note: manufacturer documents establish the specific facts and applications cited. Buying workflows and cost scenarios are DieselTrucks.ca editorial guidance. These pages do not publish measured failure rates or confirm the condition, recall status or capacity of a particular truck.
