Ford's manufacturer-authored 2022 towing guide divides F-350 pickups into SRW conventional, SRW fifth-wheel/gooseneck, DRW conventional and DRW fifth-wheel/gooseneck selectors. Across all printed alternatives, SRW conventional ratings span 12,000–20,000 lb and SRW bed-mounted ratings span 11,900–22,800 lb. F-350 DRW conventional values span 12,100–21,200 lb, while the DRW bed-mounted table spans 12,000–35,750 lb. The 35,750-lb endpoint is a gooseneck rating for one 6.7L diesel Regular Cab 4x2 configuration, not a universal F-350 rating. Ford caps fifth-wheel use of marked DRW gooseneck cells at 32,500 lb and marked SRW cells at 19,000 lb. Exact engine, axle, GCWR, cab, drive, wheelbase, box, tire, transmission and package evidence still controls.

Direct answer: 2022 F-350 towing spans four selectors

Start with rear-wheel arrangement and hitch method. The highest conventional, fifth-wheel and gooseneck numbers occur in different source cells, so a single headline cannot answer for an unknown truck. Every published figure remains conditional on the complete row and body column.

After finding the catalogue cell, check the installed receiver or bed hitch, trailer rating, truck payload, GVWR, rear GAWR, tires and loaded GCWR. The lowest applicable limit controls even when the towing table prints a larger number.

Use Ford's exact 2022 body labels

The 2022 SRW header publishes ten configurations. Regular Cab uses a 141.6-inch wheelbase and 8-ft box. SuperCab uses 148.0-inch short-box and 164.2-inch long-box branches; Crew Cab uses 159.8-inch short-box and 176.0-inch long-box branches. Each cab layout is divided into 4x2 and 4x4.

The combined DRW page contains six F-350 columns interleaved with four F-450 columns. Its F-350 positions are Regular Cab 4x2 and 4x4 at 141.6 inches, SuperCab 4x2 and 4x4 at 164.2 inches, and Crew Cab 4x2 and 4x4 at 176.0 inches, all with eight-foot boxes.

SRW conventional towing keeps two receiver modes

Ford prints maximum weight-carrying and maximum weight-distributing values separately. The paired entries below are written carrying / distributing. A distributing value is not permission to exceed the truck, axle, tire, receiver or trailer limit, and equal numbers in some cells do not erase the receiver distinction.

The five grouped body columns preserve all ten configurations in this order: Regular 4x2 | 4x4, SuperCab 4x2 short | long, SuperCab 4x4 short | long, Crew 4x2 short | long, and Crew 4x4 short | long. Slash alternatives inside Ford's cells remain tied to tire, transmission, package or Tremor notes.

SRW bed-mounted rows reach 22,800 lb only with complete evidence

The SRW fifth-wheel/gooseneck table uses the same ten body positions. Diesel primary values reach 22,800 lb in Regular Cab 4x2, but the cell also contains lower tire and 10,000-lb-GVWR-package alternatives. Other columns contain 11,400-lb-GVWR-package and Tremor alternatives.

Ford marks the larger applicable figures as gooseneck results and limits fifth-wheel use of those rows to a 19,000-lb fifth-wheel hitch rating. Calling the 22,800-lb endpoint a fifth-wheel rating would erase the source's method-specific limit.

Keep every SRW slash alternative attached

The summarized primary-value table does not authorize discarding Ford's smaller printed alternatives. Package 68D is identified as an available 10,000-lb GVWR package; package 68L is identified on the SRW page as an available 11,400-lb GVWR package. Selected diesel cells also distinguish 17-, 18- and 20-inch tire conditions.

A six-speed alternative appears in selected 6.2L cells, and Tremor Off-Road Package 17Y marks particular 4x4 positions. Confirm these conditions from the VIN-linked build record and physical labels. An engine badge, wheel diameter or seller description alone does not establish the whole branch.

Complete 2022 F-350 DRW conventional matrix

Each entry below is weight carrying / weight distributing in the six F-350 column order: Regular Cab 4x2, Regular Cab 4x4, SuperCab 4x2, SuperCab 4x4, Crew Cab 4x2 and Crew Cab 4x4. F-450 positions printed between them are not included.

The 6.2L 4.30 row at 20,000-lb GCWR contains only a six-speed Regular Cab 4x2 result. The other five F-350 cells are source dashes and remain unavailable rather than inheriting values from the separate 23,500-lb-GCWR row.

Complete 2022 F-350 DRW fifth-wheel/gooseneck matrix

The bed-mounted rows keep the same six F-350 body positions. Ford's diesel 4.10 row contains gooseneck-marked primary values and lower package-68L alternatives. On this DRW page, footnote 3 explicitly defines 68L as an available 13,000-lb GVWR package.

The 35,750-lb value is the Regular Cab 4x2 gooseneck result. Ford limits fifth-wheel use of marked gooseneck cells to 32,500 lb. Package alternatives stay in the individual body cells where Ford prints them; none may be transferred across cab or drive columns.

Package 68L has separate SRW and DRW meanings here

Ford's 2022 SRW page defines package 68L as an available 11,400-lb GVWR package. The DRW page defines the same code in that table as an available 13,000-lb GVWR package. This guide preserves both printed page-specific meanings instead of flattening 68L into one universal description.

Use the selected wheel arrangement, source page and VIN-linked configuration together. A lower package alternative is not optional arithmetic, and the larger adjacent number does not apply when the truck matches the package-marked branch.

The 37,000-lb cells are not F-350 ratings

Ford's combined DRW table alternates model ownership across the header. The 37,000- and 36,400-lb values in the 45,300-lb-GCWR bed-mounted row belong to F-450 Regular Cab. The 34,600- and 32,600-lb values in the 43,500-lb-GCWR row belong to F-450 Crew Cab.

The same ownership rule excludes the 24,200-lb conventional cells printed for F-450 Crew Cab. The F-350 maximum in the reviewed DRW bed-mounted matrix is 35,750 lb. Reading downward without carrying the model label would overstate the F-350 result.

Fifth-wheel and gooseneck limits are not interchangeable

Ford combines fifth-wheel and gooseneck data under one table heading but marks high gooseneck cells with a lower fifth-wheel ceiling. The SRW cap is 19,000 lb for marked rows; the DRW cap is 32,500 lb. Those method limits remain part of the printed rating.

Confirm the installed hitch, attachment method, ball or jaw assembly, trailer coupler and every component label. A gooseneck endpoint cannot be advertised as fifth-wheel capacity, and changing hardware does not increase payload, GVWR or axle capacity.

Payload and rear-axle load can decide the usable result

Ford's notes use 10% of loaded trailer weight for conventional tongue-load planning and 15% for fifth-wheel king-pin load. Transferred trailer load shares truck capacity with passengers, cargo, options and hitch hardware.

Fifteen percent of the 32,500-lb fifth-wheel ceiling is 4,875 lb, and 15% of the 35,750-lb gooseneck endpoint is about 5,363 lb. These calculations illustrate scale, not permission. Measure the actual combination and compare both axle loads with the vehicle labels.

GCWR identifies a row; it is not the trailer rating

GCWR limits the loaded truck and loaded trailer together. It helps identify the Ford row but is not itself the maximum trailer weight. Subtracting a catalogue curb weight from GCWR can overstate capacity because occupants, fuel, equipment, cargo and hitch hardware alter actual truck weight.

Use the table cell and a loaded scale ticket together. Compare total combination weight, front and rear axle weights, GVWR, GAWR, tires, wheels, receiver or bed hitch and trailer limits. The lowest result remains the operating ceiling.

Bed-mounted ratings do not guarantee clearance

The SRW selector includes 6.75-foot short boxes, while the reviewed DRW F-350 columns use eight-foot boxes. A published fifth-wheel or gooseneck weight does not prove clearance between trailer, cab, bed rails and tailgate through every turn or grade transition.

Measure the actual hitch location, trailer overhang and articulation envelope. A sliding hitch or offset coupler may address geometry when approved by its manufacturers, but it cannot increase Ford's vehicle, axle, tire or trailer ratings.

Build an exact 2022 configuration record

Confirm that the vehicle is a 2022 F-350 pickup rather than an F-450 or chassis cab. Record SRW or DRW, 6.2L gas, 7.3L gas or 6.7L diesel, axle ratio, GCWR, cab, drive, exact wheelbase and box. Then identify conventional carrying or distributing, fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitching.

Resolve package 68D or the page-specific 68L condition, Tremor 17Y, tire notes, six-speed alternatives and source dashes from build records and physical labels. Keep the rating unresolved when a selector cannot be verified.

Canadian trucks need vehicle-specific confirmation

The exact capacity matrix is Ford-authored U.S.-market evidence. Ford Canada's towing resources provide a Canadian documentation handoff, but neither source proves that every U.S. package, label or equipment combination was offered identically on an unseen Canadian truck.

For a Canadian candidate, collect the VIN, certification and tire labels, original build record, axle code, installed hitch label and alteration history. Resolve any conflict with market-specific documentation before assigning a row. This guide does not determine registration, licensing or commercial operating rules.

Use labels and loaded scale weights before towing

Photograph the Safety Compliance Certification Label and tire/loading label, verify the installed hitch rating and weigh the truck with the occupants, cargo, fuel and bed equipment it will carry. Obtain separate front- and rear-axle weights where available.

Compare those measurements with GVWR, both GAWR values, tire and wheel limits, payload, loaded GCWR and the selected trailer cell. Auxiliary fuel, tools, campers, hitch hardware and pin or tongue load all consume carrying allowance.

Do not transfer the 2021 page into 2022

Many primary endpoints match the independently reviewed 2021 guide, but exact-year evidence still matters. In the diesel 4.10 / 43,400-lb-GCWR DRW bed-mounted row, Ford prints a 32,100-lb package-68L alternative for the 2022 Crew Cab 4x2 position; the prior-year table prints 32,000 lb there.

That changed cell is enough to reject a copied matrix. The 2021 page remains a sibling comparison and cannot fill a 2022 source dash, replace a 2022 package condition or certify a different model year.

Gas and diesel comparisons need the whole truck

The 6.7L diesel supplies the largest reviewed gooseneck figures. The 7.3L and 6.2L gas rows remain useful alternatives with different GCWR, truck mass, payload margin, equipment and maintenance considerations. Peak output or one brochure maximum cannot identify the best work truck.

Compare complete candidates against the same trailer, passengers, cargo, hitch and route. Mechanical condition, maintenance history and current faults remain separate from the towing matrix; this page does not rank reliability or predict failure.

Source method and evidence limits

All configuration figures come from Ford's 53-page 2022 RV & Trailer Towing Guide hosted by Ford Pro. Printed pages 28–30 were rendered at 180 dpi and visually reviewed on 13 September 2026; the downloaded file was checked with SHA-256 0d735976e88e33e92f92f09a919ebb39da6ee9b974477c38f36c9c02de9dc870. Ford states that its tables use the SAE J2807 method.

No value transfers to another year, F-Series model, chassis cab, incomplete or altered vehicle, or unmatched hitch. The evidence does not establish Canadian VIN status, reliability, failure rates, condition, inventory, sellers, dealer counts, prices, financing or offers.

2022 F-350 towing questions and conclusion

What is the maximum 2022 Ford F-350 towing capacity? The reviewed pickup tables reach 20,000 lb conventional, 22,800 lb SRW gooseneck or 35,750 lb DRW gooseneck, each in a different configuration. Is fifth-wheel capacity also 35,750 lb? No. Ford caps marked DRW gooseneck rows at 32,500 lb for fifth-wheel use and marked SRW rows at 19,000 lb.

Does every diesel dually tow 35,750 lb? No. The 4.10 DRW row includes body- and package-specific values from 28,900 to 35,750 lb. Keep the six F-350 columns separate from F-450, match every selector and verify payload, labels, hitch and loaded axle weights.

Evidence note: manufacturer documents establish the specific facts and applications cited. Buying workflows and cost scenarios are DieselTrucks.ca editorial guidance. These pages do not publish measured failure rates or confirm the condition, recall status or capacity of a particular truck.
