The 23,000-lb result is a gooseneck cell for a Regular Cab 4x2 with the high-output 6.7L diesel, 3.31 or 3.55 axle, 31,000-lb GCWR, 141.6-inch wheelbase, eight-foot box and High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package 535; its paired fifth-wheel value is 22,300 lb. Direct answer: three 2025 hitch-specific maxima
Across Ford's populated primary cells, conventional ratings span 13,800-22,000 lb, fifth-wheel ratings span 12,200-22,300 lb and gooseneck ratings span 13,300-23,000 lb. Footnoted alternatives in the standard-diesel Crew Cab 4x4 long-box cell extend lower, to 11,600 lb fifth-wheel and 12,600 lb gooseneck under fixed 9,900-lb GVWR. Those conditional values are not general minima for every F-250.
The selected matrix cell is only one limit. Payload, GVWR, front and rear GAWR, tires, receiver or bed hitch, trailer ratings and measured loaded weights can produce a lower usable result. The working limit is the lowest verified constraint for the complete combination.

Choose one of eight exact body columns
The 2025 selector has eight cab, drivetrain, wheelbase and box columns. Regular Cab uses a 141.6-inch wheelbase and eight-foot box. SuperCab appears only with the 164.2-inch wheelbase and eight-foot box. Crew Cab separates a 159.8-inch short-box configuration from a 176.0-inch long-box configuration, with 4x2 and 4x4 branches.
Cab name by itself is not enough. Record all four body descriptors before reading across a row. Moving to the adjacent drivetrain, wheelbase or box column can change the value, and a missing body column cannot be reconstructed from another model year.

Conventional rows change with powertrain and GCWR
The ordinary 6.7L diesel uses a 23,500-lb-GCWR row from 15,500 to 16,600 lb. Its package-535 rows use 30,000-lb GCWR and reach 22,000 lb. High-output 6.7L package-535 rows use 31,000-lb GCWR and also top out at 22,000 lb. A separate high-output Tremor row uses 28,300-lb GCWR and publishes 18,200 lb only for Crew Cab 4x4 short box.
Gas rows are separate. The 6.8L ranges from 13,800 to 17,300 lb across its 3.73- and 4.30-axle rows. The 7.3L matrix contains distinct 23,500-, 24,600- and 26,000-lb-GCWR branches, with source blanks that remain unavailable.

Fifth-wheel and gooseneck values stay paired but distinct
Ford prints a fifth-wheel and a gooseneck number for each populated bed-mounted position. The standard-output 6.7L, 30,000-lb-GCWR, package-535 Regular Cab 4x2 cell is 22,300 / 22,900 lb. The high-output 31,000-lb-GCWR counterpart is 22,300 / 23,000 lb. The second number is not a fifth-wheel rating.
Keep each pair attached to the exact body column. A change in cab, box, drivetrain, output family or axle can change the result by hundreds or thousands of pounds. The hitch and trailer also need their own adequate ratings.

Gas bed-mounted rows retain their exact cells
The 6.8L V8 uses 21,000- and 23,500-lb-GCWR rows. Its fifth-wheel cells span 13,600-17,100 lb and gooseneck cells span 13,700-17,300 lb. The 7.3L 4.30-axle row reaches 19,500 / 19,500 lb in the Regular Cab 4x2 position.
The 7.3L 3.73 table splits 23,500- and 24,600-lb-GCWR rows and leaves several positions blank. Some populated 7.3L cells also carry Tremor or 10,000-plus-GVWR alternatives. A slash is a conditional branch within one source cell, not a range that can be freely selected.

The short-box SuperCab columns are absent in 2025
The 2024 selector had ten body columns, including SuperCab 4x2 and 4x4 at a 148.0-inch wheelbase with the 6.75-foot box. The reviewed 2025 F-250 table has eight columns and omits both of those short-box SuperCab positions. It retains only the 164.2-inch-wheelbase, eight-foot-box SuperCab branches.
This is a structural model-year difference, not a formatting accident to repair. Do not import a 2024 short-box value or use the 2025 long-box SuperCab cell as a substitute. If a truck's configuration does not exist in the 2025 selector, resolve its identity and documentation before assigning a rating.
Package 535 is required only where Ford marks it
Ford identifies code 535 as the F-250 High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package. The 30,000-lb-GCWR standard-diesel and 31,000-lb-GCWR high-output-diesel rows require it. Engine type, axle ratio, receiver appearance or an advertised tow number does not prove the factory package is present.
Verify code 535 through factory build evidence and reconcile it with the certification labels. An aftermarket hitch or suspension component can have its own rating, but it cannot create a Ford package identity or increase the manufacturer's vehicle ratings.
Standard-output and high-output 6.7L rows are separate
The matrix distinguishes the 6.7L V8 Turbo Diesel from the 6.7L V8 High-Output Turbo Diesel. Both can show 22,000 lb conventional with package 535, but their high-capacity GCWR rows differ: 30,000 lb for standard output and 31,000 lb for high output.
Their top gooseneck cells also differ, at 22,900 and 23,000 lb respectively. Confirm the installed output family from reliable vehicle documentation. Badges, appearance and seller descriptions are not sufficient evidence for selecting the high-output row.
Source blanks remain unavailable
The 3.31-axle package-535 bed-mounted tables leave the SuperCab 4x2 long-box position blank, while the corresponding 3.55 rows publish 20,900 / 21,900 lb. Several 7.3L 3.73 positions are also blank, including every SuperCab 4x2 long-box bed-mounted cell in the reviewed rows.
A blank is not zero and not permission to copy the neighbouring value. Preserve it as unavailable in the reviewed source and obtain exact-vehicle guidance from Ford when the candidate falls into an unpopulated position.
GVWR alternatives stay attached to the printed cell
The ordinary-diesel Crew Cab 4x4 long-box primary pair is 12,200 / 13,300 lb. In that same source position, fixed 9,900-lb-GVWR alternatives are 11,600 / 12,600 lb, while 10,000-plus-GVWR alternatives are 15,300 / 15,400 lb. These are separate footnoted branches, not an adjustable spectrum.
Other SuperCab and Crew Cab cells carry their own fixed-9,900 or 10,000-plus figures. Read the footnote attached to the exact cell and verify the vehicle's GVWR and build. Do not generalize one slash entry to every F-250 bearing the same nominal GVWR.
Tremor 17Y is an isolated configuration branch
The high-output diesel Tremor row uses 28,300-lb GCWR and populates only Crew Cab 4x4 short box: 18,200 lb conventional and 18,900 / 19,900 lb fifth-wheel / gooseneck. Selected 7.3L bed-mounted cells contain separate Tremor alternatives under their own row and column.
Package 17Y and the exact body configuration must both be established from factory evidence. Do not move a Tremor value to a long box, another cab, another engine or an unmarked table position.
GCWR selects a row but does not equal towing capacity
Ford states that its ratings follow SAE J2807. GCWR is the allowed combined weight of the loaded truck and loaded trailer, not the trailer limit by itself. The selector includes 21,000-, 23,500-, 24,600-, 26,000-, 28,300-, 30,000- and 31,000-lb branches because engine, axle, package and configuration matter.
Subtracting actual loaded truck weight from GCWR is one combined-weight check. The result still must be compared with the published trailer cell, GVWR, each GAWR, tires, hitch components and the trailer's own ratings.
Tongue and pin weight consume payload and axle margin
Ford's planning notes use 10% conventional tongue weight and 15% fifth-wheel or gooseneck king-pin weight. At those percentages, a 22,000-lb conventional trailer implies 2,200 lb of tongue load, while a 23,000-lb gooseneck implies 3,450 lb of pin load before passengers, cargo and hitch hardware.
Those calculations do not authorize exceeding payload, GVWR or rear GAWR. Use the trailer manufacturer's loading instructions, measure the ready-to-travel combination and compare each axle scale result with the truck and tire labels.
Tailgate height is a reference, not clearance approval
Ford lists F-250 4x4 maximum tailgate height at 57.9-60.0 inches and Tremor at 59.5-61.3 inches. The measurement runs from level ground to the top of the closed tailgate lip at base curb weight, and configuration, options and tire size can change it.
The number does not certify bed-rail, pin-box or trailer-nose clearance. Measure the actual loaded truck and trailer on level ground, follow the hitch and trailer manufacturers' instructions and check articulation through the intended operating range.
Short-box fit remains a separate physical check
A Crew Cab with the 6.75-foot box can carry a substantial published rating while still having cab-to-trailer contact risk. Trailer nose shape, pin-box geometry, hitch position, turning angle, suspension movement and uneven ground govern clearance; the towing table does not approve a particular fit.
Use the exact hitch manufacturer's fit and installation guidance. A slider or specialized pin box must be approved for the full combination and does not raise any Ford vehicle rating.
The individual truck's labels and loaded weights control
Use the Canadian guide to identify a possible configuration cell, then verify GVWR, front and rear GAWR, tire ratings, engine-output family, axle, cab, box, drivetrain, wheelbase and factory packages on the candidate truck. The table does not state its remaining payload after options and equipment.
Weigh the truck as actually used with fuel, occupants, cargo and installed hitch hardware. A maximum loaded trailer figure cannot prove payload or rear-axle margin without the exact truck's labels and measured axle weights.
Canadian evidence does not certify an unseen VIN
The core evidence is Ford Canada's official 2025 publication, so the matrix is Canadian-market manufacturer evidence. Ford Canada's towing resources also direct exact-vehicle work to a VIN-based towing calculator. The PDF by itself cannot establish the equipment or ratings on an unseen truck.
Use the VIN-specific build record and physical certification and tire labels. If the engine-output family, package, GVWR branch or precise source cell cannot be verified, do not assign the higher value.
2025 was reviewed independently from 2024
The 2025 and 2024 guides share their headline maxima, yet their selectors are not interchangeable. The 2025 table contracts from ten body columns to eight, removes both 148.0-inch SuperCab short-box columns and changes many bed-mounted values by 100-300 lb.
The ordinary-diesel Crew Cab 4x4 long-box primary pair moves to 12,200 / 13,300 lb, its fixed-9,900 alternative moves to 11,600 / 12,600 lb, and the tailgate ranges change. No 2024 number was copied into a 2025 blank.
Use a fixed lookup sequence and keep every limit
Start with conventional, fifth-wheel or gooseneck use. Record standard-output or high-output engine, axle and GCWR; then match cab, drivetrain, decimal wheelbase and box. Apply package 535, Tremor 17Y, fixed-9,900-GVWR and 10,000-plus-GVWR branches only where Ford prints them.
Compare the resulting cell with the certification and tire labels, installed hitch, trailer rating and measured axle weights. Save the source page and configuration evidence with the load worksheet so another reviewer can reproduce the selection.
