Ford Canada's independently reviewed 2023 F-250 SRW tables contain conventional ratings from 13,800 to 22,000 lb, fifth-wheel ratings from 12,100 to 22,300 lb and gooseneck ratings from 13,200 to 23,000 lb. These are configuration endpoints, not one capacity for every truck. The 23,000-lb result is a gooseneck value for a Regular Cab 4x2 with the high-output 6.7L diesel, 3.31 or 3.55 axle, 31,000-lb GCWR, 141.6-inch wheelbase, eight-foot box and High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package 535. The separate fifth-wheel value in that cell is 22,300 lb. Select the exact hitch, engine-output family and body column, then verify the individual truck's labels, factory equipment, hitch and loaded axle weights.
Direct answer: 13,800-23,000 lb across three 2023 hitch tables
The conventional matrix spans 13,800-22,000 lb across populated cells. Its 22,000-lb maximum appears in selected standard-output and high-output 6.7L diesel columns with package 535; ordinary 23,500-lb-GCWR diesel cells top out at 16,600 lb. The gasoline conventional maximum is 18,200 lb.
The bed-mounted table prints separate fifth-wheel and gooseneck numbers. Fifth-wheel cells span 12,100-22,300 lb, while gooseneck cells span 13,200-23,000 lb. The truck's payload, GVWR, rear GAWR, tires, installed hitch and trailer ratings can all establish a lower usable limit.

Match one of ten exact cab, drive, wheelbase and box columns
Ford's 2023 selector uses ten body columns. Regular Cab is a 141.6-inch-wheelbase eight-foot box. SuperCab separates a 148.0-inch short box and 164.2-inch long box. Crew Cab separates a 159.8-inch short box and 176.0-inch long box. Each body branch is divided between 4x2 and 4x4.
Treat the decimal wheelbase as an identity check, not a fit guarantee. Select cab, drivetrain, wheelbase and box together before choosing the engine, axle and GCWR row. A Power Stroke badge or approximate bed length cannot identify a valid rating cell.

Conventional ratings change by engine family and GCWR
The standard 6.7L diesel begins with a 3.31-axle, 23,500-lb-GCWR row from 15,500 to 16,600 lb. Package-535 standard-diesel rows use 30,000-lb GCWR and reach 22,000 lb. High-output 6.7L package-535 rows use 31,000-lb GCWR and also reach 22,000 lb, while a separate 28,300-lb-GCWR Tremor row has one 18,200-lb short-box Crew Cab 4x4 cell.
The 6.8L gasoline rows span 13,800-17,300 lb. The 7.3L 3.73 row spans 17,300-18,200 lb, and every 7.3L 4.30 / 26,000-lb-GCWR column is 18,200 lb. The repeated number does not erase the required body, axle, label or hitch checks.

Fifth-wheel and gooseneck are separate numbers in 2023
Ford Canada's 2023 table gives a fifth-wheel and gooseneck figure for each populated body position. In the standard diesel 30,000-lb-GCWR Regular Cab 4x2 cell, the pair is 22,300 and 22,900 lb. In the high-output 31,000-lb-GCWR equivalent, it is 22,300 and 23,000 lb.
Do not carry forward the prior table format or a blanket fifth-wheel cap from 2022. The 2023 source already states each hitch-specific result. Choose the column and hitch first, retain the pair as printed and compare it with the installed hitch and trailer labels.

Gas bed-mounted rows retain hitch-specific pairs
The 6.8L V8 has 3.73 and 4.30 rows at 21,000- and 23,500-lb GCWR. Its fifth-wheel values run from 13,600 to 17,100 lb and its gooseneck values from 13,800 to 17,300 lb. The 7.3L rows extend higher, but axle, GCWR and body column still determine the pair.
Selected 7.3L positions print 10,000-plus-GVWR alternatives as slash values. Those alternatives are not ranges and cannot be moved to an adjacent column. A source blank remains unavailable.

Package 535 is now the High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package
Ford attaches package code 535 to the standard-diesel 30,000-lb-GCWR and high-output-diesel 31,000-lb-GCWR rows. The 2023 F-250 table calls it the High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package. Do not assume a diesel engine or 3.31/3.55 axle alone establishes those rows.
Confirm the factory package in build documentation and then match the certification labels. An aftermarket receiver, suspension component or replacement axle does not create Ford's factory package or raise the manufacturer's ratings.
Standard-output and high-output 6.7L rows are distinct
The redesigned 2023 selector separates the 6.7L Turbo Diesel from the 6.7L High-Output Turbo Diesel. Their high-capacity conventional values are similar, but GCWR differs: 30,000 lb for the standard-output package-535 row and 31,000 lb for the high-output row.
Bed-mounted values also differ. The top standard-diesel gooseneck cell is 22,900 lb; the high-output counterpart reaches 23,000 lb. Engine identity must come from reliable build evidence, not appearance or an unverified seller description.
Tremor 17Y creates isolated rows, not a universal result
Tremor Off-Road Package 17Y appears as a separate high-output-diesel row at 28,300-lb GCWR. Only the Crew Cab 4x4 short-box column is populated: 18,200 lb conventional and 19,500 / 20,000 lb fifth-wheel / gooseneck. The other positions are source blanks.
Do not apply this Tremor row to a long box, another cab or an unmarked engine branch. Factory package evidence and the exact configuration remain necessary, and a source blank is not permission to borrow a neighboring value.
10,000-plus-GVWR alternatives stay in their marked cells
Ford prints selected alternate bed-mounted values with a 10,000-plus-GVWR footnote. A slash display means the ordinary and marked alternatives share one table position; it does not describe a continuous range or a choice available to every F-250.
Keep each alternative with its original engine, axle, GCWR and body column. Verify the truck's certification label before choosing it. If the individual vehicle's GVWR and build evidence do not match, the marked value is unsupported.
GCWR selects a row but is not trailer capacity
Ford states that the 2023 tables are calculated with the SAE J2807 method. GCWR is the permitted combined truck-and-trailer weight, not the trailer rating. The diesel selector contains 23,500-, 28,300-, 30,000- and 31,000-lb-GCWR rows because engine output, package and configuration matter.
Subtract the actual loaded truck weight from GCWR as one combined-weight check, then compare the result with the published trailer cell and every lower receiver, hitch, axle, tire and trailer limit. The subtraction cannot replace those independent constraints.
Tongue and pin load consume truck capacity
Ford's notes use 10% conventional tongue weight and 15% fifth-wheel or gooseneck king-pin weight. A 22,000-lb conventional trailer implies a 2,200-lb planning tongue load. A 23,000-lb gooseneck implies 3,450 lb at 15%, before hitch hardware, passengers and cargo.
These percentages are planning assumptions, not authority to exceed GVWR or rear GAWR. Follow the trailer manufacturer's loading guidance and verify the complete travel-ready combination on scales by axle.
Tailgate height does not certify trailer clearance
Ford lists a 57.8-60.0-inch maximum tailgate-height range for F-250 4x4 configurations and 59.7-61.3 inches for Tremor. The source defines the measurement from the ground to the top of the closed tailgate lip at base curb weight and says configuration, options and tires change it.
Those figures do not establish fifth-wheel rail clearance, pin-box clearance or safe articulation. Measure the actual loaded truck and trailer on level ground and follow the hitch and trailer manufacturers' setup instructions.
Short-box turning clearance remains a physical check
A short-box configuration may have a strong published trailer rating while still presenting cab-to-trailer contact risk. Trailer nose shape, pin-box geometry, hitch position, turning angle and terrain determine clearance; Ford's capacity table does not certify fit.
Use the exact hitch manufacturer's fit instructions and perform a controlled clearance check. A sliding hitch or specialized pin box must be approved for the complete truck, hitch and trailer combination and does not change vehicle ratings.
The individual truck's labels and loaded weights control
The Canadian table is a configuration reference, not a substitute for the certification label, tire label or factory build record. Verify GVWR, front and rear GAWR, tire ratings, engine-output family, axle, cab, box, drivetrain and factory packages before selecting a source cell.
Then weigh the truck in travel condition with fuel, occupants, cargo and installed hitch equipment. A maximum loaded trailer weight cannot establish remaining payload or rear-axle margin without those vehicle-specific inputs.
The Canadian source still does not certify an unseen VIN
This page uses Ford Canada's official 2023 towing guide, so its table is Canadian-market manufacturer evidence. It still does not certify the equipment, labels, remaining payload or condition of an unseen truck. Availability notes also warn that some trims and features arrived later in the model year.
Use the VIN-specific build record and physical labels for the candidate vehicle. If the required engine-output family, package or rating cannot be established, do not use the higher row.
2023 is not a continuation of the 2022 matrix
The 2023 redesign replaces the 6.2L gasoline row with a 6.8L V8 and adds a separate high-output 6.7L diesel family. Package 535 has a revised table name, and bed-mounted columns now publish paired fifth-wheel and gooseneck results instead of the reviewed 2022 shared-value format.
Accordingly, the 2022 22,800-lb gooseneck maximum and its 19,000-lb fifth-wheel cap were not transferred. The independently reviewed 2023 source supports 22,300 lb fifth-wheel and 23,000 lb gooseneck in the exact top configuration.
Use a fixed lookup sequence and retain every limit
Identify conventional, fifth-wheel or gooseneck use first. Record standard-output or high-output engine, axle and GCWR; then match cab, 4x2 or 4x4, decimal wheelbase and box. Apply package 535, Tremor 17Y and 10,000-plus-GVWR alternatives only where Ford prints them.
Finally compare the cell with the truck labels, installed hitch, trailer rating and measured axle weights. The lowest verified constraint is the working limit. Save the source page and configuration notes with the load worksheet so another reviewer can reproduce the choice.
2023 F-250 towing questions and source limits
What is the maximum 2023 Ford F-250 towing capacity? The reviewed configuration maxima are 22,000 lb conventional, 22,300 lb fifth-wheel and 23,000 lb gooseneck. Does every high-output diesel tow 23,000 lb? No. That endpoint requires the exact package-535 Regular Cab 4x2 row; other cells are lower.
