Read the 2026 F-250 conventional selector as a matrix
Ford's 2026 U.S. guide shows why “F-250 towing capacity” is not one number. In its conventional selector, 6.8L gas rows with a 3.73 axle and 21,000-lb GCWR list maximum loaded trailer weights from 13,800 to 14,800 lb across the displayed cab and drive configurations. With the 4.30 axle and 23,500-lb GCWR, the listed range becomes 16,300 to 17,300 lb.
The 7.3L gas 4.30-axle row uses 26,000-lb GCWR and lists 18,200 lb in the displayed entries. Baseline standard-output 6.7L diesel 3.31-axle rows at 23,500-lb GCWR list 15,500 to 16,600 lb, while separate high-capacity-package rows at 30,000-lb GCWR reach as high as 22,000 lb. High-output diesel package rows at 31,000-lb GCWR also reach 22,000 lb in the selector.
These are 2026 U.S. properly-equipped maximum loaded trailer rows, not Canadian VIN ratings. Cab, drive, wheelbase, package and other table conditions choose the applicable cell. Ford also states that hitch load, passengers and cargo must fit the truck's payload and that options reduce available payload.
A towing headline cannot solve payload
The trailer row answers only one part of the combination.
