Ford Canada's independently reviewed 2024 F-250 SRW selector reaches 22,000 lb conventional, 22,300 lb fifth-wheel and 23,000 lb gooseneck, but none is a universal truck rating. The 23,000-lb cell is a gooseneck result for a Regular Cab 4x2 with the high-output 6.7L diesel, 3.31 or 3.55 axle, 31,000-lb GCWR, 141.6-inch wheelbase, eight-foot box and High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package 535; the paired fifth-wheel figure is 22,300 lb. Match the exact hitch, engine-output family, axle, GCWR and body column, preserve source blanks and footnoted GVWR alternatives, then verify the individual truck's labels, factory equipment, hitch and loaded axle weights.
Direct answer: three 2024 hitch-specific maxima
The conventional table spans 13,800-22,000 lb across its populated primary cells. Fifth-wheel primary cells run from 12,100 to 22,300 lb, and gooseneck primary cells run from 13,200 to 23,000 lb. Selected slash alternatives for fixed 9,900-lb GVWR trucks extend lower, to 11,500 lb fifth-wheel and 12,500 lb gooseneck; they are exact branches, not a general range.
A published trailer cell is only one constraint. Payload, GVWR, rear GAWR, tires, installed hitch, trailer ratings and the measured travel-ready combination can establish a lower usable limit. Start with the source cell, then use the lowest verified limit.

Choose one of ten exact body columns
Ford divides the selector into ten cab, drivetrain, wheelbase and box combinations. Regular Cab uses a 141.6-inch wheelbase and eight-foot box. SuperCab separates 148.0-inch short-box and 164.2-inch long-box columns. Crew Cab separates 159.8-inch short-box and 176.0-inch long-box columns. Each branch is further divided between 4x2 and 4x4.
Treat all four descriptors as identifiers. Cab style or approximate bed length alone cannot select a cell, and a rating from a long-wheelbase column cannot be transferred to a short-wheelbase truck even when engine and axle match.

Conventional ratings vary by engine, axle and GCWR
The standard-output 6.7L diesel has a 23,500-lb-GCWR row with populated values from 15,500 to 16,600 lb. Its package-535 rows move to 30,000-lb GCWR and reach 22,000 lb. High-output 6.7L package-535 rows use 31,000-lb GCWR and also reach 22,000 lb. A separate high-output 28,300-lb-GCWR Tremor row populates only the Crew Cab 4x4 short-box position at 18,200 lb.
The 6.8L gasoline rows span 13,800-17,300 lb. The 7.3L table separates 23,500- and 24,600-lb-GCWR 3.73 branches before the 26,000-lb-GCWR 4.30 row reaches 18,200 lb in every available column. A repeated number does not erase the source blank or configuration requirement.

Fifth-wheel and gooseneck values are paired but distinct
Ford prints a fifth-wheel and gooseneck number for each populated bed-mounted position. The standard 6.7L, 30,000-lb-GCWR, package-535 Regular Cab 4x2 pair is 22,300 / 22,900 lb. The high-output 31,000-lb-GCWR counterpart is 22,300 / 23,000 lb. The second number cannot be used with a fifth-wheel hitch.
Keep the two values attached to their body column. A neighbouring cab, longer box, different output family or unverified axle can change the result. The installed hitch and trailer must also be rated for the loaded combination.

Gas bed-mounted rows keep exact hitch pairs
The 6.8L V8 has 21,000- and 23,500-lb-GCWR rows. Its primary fifth-wheel cells span 13,600-17,100 lb and gooseneck cells span 13,800-17,300 lb. The 7.3L rows extend higher, reaching a 19,500-lb fifth-wheel and 19,500-lb gooseneck pair in the Regular Cab 4x2 4.30-axle position.
The 7.3L 3.73 table uses separate 23,500- and 24,600-lb-GCWR lines with different blanks. Selected 7.3L positions also contain Tremor, fixed-9,900-GVWR or 10,000-plus-GVWR alternatives. A slash is a conditional value in one cell, not a continuous range.

Package 535 unlocks only the marked high-capacity rows
Ford calls code 535 the F-250 High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package. It is required for the 30,000-lb-GCWR standard-diesel and 31,000-lb-GCWR high-output-diesel rows. A diesel engine, axle ratio or receiver alone does not prove the package is installed.
Confirm code 535 in factory build evidence and then match the truck's certification labels. An aftermarket spring, axle or hitch cannot manufacture a Ford package identity or raise the vehicle ratings printed by the manufacturer.
Standard-output and high-output diesel rows cannot be merged
The selector distinguishes the 6.7L Turbo Diesel from the 6.7L High-Output Turbo Diesel. Their package-535 conventional maxima may both be 22,000 lb, but their GCWR rows differ: 30,000 lb for standard output and 31,000 lb for high output.
Their bed-mounted endpoints also differ. The top standard-output gooseneck cell is 22,900 lb, while high output reaches 23,000 lb. Verify engine-output identity from reliable vehicle documentation rather than appearance, badge assumptions or a seller description.
The 3.31 and 3.55 rows have different source blanks
Several 3.31-axle high-capacity diesel positions are blank in 2024 where the corresponding 3.55 row is populated, including the SuperCab 4x2 short- and long-box positions. The ordinary 23,500-lb-GCWR 3.31 diesel row also leaves the SuperCab 4x2 short-box conventional cell blank.
A blank means the reviewed source does not publish a value in that position. Do not borrow the 3.55 number, a neighbouring body value or a figure from the 2023 guide. Escalate the exact truck to Ford documentation if its cell is blank.
GVWR slash alternatives stay attached to their cells
Ford marks selected bed-mounted alternatives as fixed 9,900-lb GVWR or 10,000-plus GVWR. The lowest printed alternatives—11,500 lb fifth-wheel and 12,500 lb gooseneck—appear in the ordinary-diesel Crew Cab 4x4 long-box cell under the fixed-9,900 condition. Other alternatives in the same position carry different conditions.
Read each slash entry with its footnote. The values do not create a buyer-selectable range and cannot be generalized to every truck at that GVWR. The certification label and factory build must establish which branch applies.
Tremor 17Y is an isolated branch
The high-output diesel Tremor row uses 28,300-lb GCWR and populates only the Crew Cab 4x4 short-box column: 18,200 lb conventional and 19,500 / 20,000 lb fifth-wheel / gooseneck. Selected 7.3L bed-mounted cells also print Tremor alternatives under their own table positions.
Do not apply a Tremor value to a long box, another cab or an unmarked engine branch. Package 17Y and the exact body configuration both need factory evidence; all other source positions remain unavailable.
GCWR selects a row but is not trailer capacity
Ford states that the tables are calculated with the SAE J2807 method. GCWR is the permitted combined truck-and-trailer weight, not the trailer rating. The selector contains 21,000-, 23,500-, 24,600-, 26,000-, 28,300-, 30,000- and 31,000-lb-GCWR branches because powertrain, package and configuration matter.
Subtract the actual loaded truck weight from GCWR as one combined-weight check, then compare that result with the published trailer cell and every receiver, hitch, axle, tire and trailer limit. The arithmetic cannot replace those separate constraints.
Tongue and pin load consume truck capacity
Ford's notes use 10% conventional tongue weight and 15% fifth-wheel or gooseneck king-pin weight. At those planning percentages, 22,000 lb conventional implies 2,200 lb of tongue load, while 23,000 lb gooseneck implies 3,450 lb of pin load before hitch hardware, passengers and cargo.
Those calculations are planning checks, not authorization to exceed payload, GVWR or rear GAWR. Follow the trailer manufacturer's loading guidance and weigh the complete travel-ready combination by axle.
Tailgate height is not fifth-wheel clearance
Ford lists 57.8-60.0 inches for F-250 4x4 maximum tailgate height and 59.7-61.3 inches for Tremor. The source measures from the ground to the top of the closed tailgate lip at base curb weight and warns that configuration, options and tire size change the result.
Those figures do not certify bed-rail clearance, pin-box clearance or safe articulation. Measure the actual loaded truck and trailer on level ground and follow the hitch and trailer manufacturers' setup instructions.
Short-box clearance remains a physical fit check
A 6.75-foot-box truck can have a strong published trailer rating while still facing cab-to-trailer contact risk. Trailer nose shape, pin-box geometry, hitch position, turning angle and terrain govern clearance; the towing matrix does not certify fit.
Use the exact hitch manufacturer's installation and fit guidance and perform a controlled clearance check. A sliding hitch or specialized pin box must be approved for the complete combination and does not increase Ford's vehicle ratings.
The individual truck's labels and loaded weights control
The Canadian selector is a configuration reference, not a substitute for the certification label, tire label or factory build record. Verify GVWR, front and rear GAWR, tire ratings, engine-output family, axle, cab, box, drivetrain, wheelbase and factory packages before selecting a source cell.
Then weigh the truck as used with fuel, occupants, cargo and installed hitch equipment. Maximum loaded trailer weight cannot establish remaining payload or rear-axle margin without those exact-vehicle measurements.
Canadian evidence does not certify an unseen VIN
This guide uses Ford Canada's official 2024 publication, making its matrix Canadian-market manufacturer evidence. Ford Canada's towing-resource workflow still requires a VIN for exact-vehicle lookup. The table alone cannot prove the equipment or ratings on an unseen truck.
Use the VIN-specific build record and physical labels for the candidate vehicle. If the engine-output family, package, GVWR branch or source cell cannot be established, do not use the higher number.
2024 was reviewed independently from 2023
The 2024 and 2023 guides share engine families and headline maxima, but their matrices are not interchangeable. The 2024 source has its own availability blanks, separate 7.3L GCWR branches and explicit fixed-9,900- and 10,000-plus-GVWR alternatives.
Accordingly, no 2023 value was copied into a 2024 blank. Model year remains part of every lookup, and the 2023 guide stays a separate long-tail page rather than being merged into this canonical.
Use a fixed lookup sequence and keep every limit
Identify conventional, fifth-wheel or gooseneck use first. Record standard-output or high-output engine, axle and GCWR; then match cab, drivetrain, decimal wheelbase and box. Apply package 535, Tremor 17Y, fixed-9,900-GVWR and 10,000-plus-GVWR branches only where Ford prints them.
Compare the chosen cell with the truck labels, installed hitch, trailer rating and measured axle weights. The lowest verified constraint is the working limit. Save the source page and configuration notes with the load worksheet so the selection can be reproduced.
2024 F-250 towing questions and evidence limits
What is the maximum 2024 Ford F-250 towing capacity? The reviewed maxima are 22,000 lb conventional, 22,300 lb fifth-wheel and 23,000 lb gooseneck. Does every high-output diesel tow 23,000 lb? No. That endpoint requires the exact package-535 Regular Cab 4x2 row; other high-output cells are lower.
