Stellantis' two manufacturer-authored 2022 RAM 3500 charts publish 90 configuration-level maximum-trailer values from 14,410 to 37,090 lb. The minimum is a gas SRW Mega Cab 4x4 RamBox with the 3.73 axle. The maximum is a high-output Cummins DRW Regular Cab 4x2 with the Aisin transmission, 4.10 axle, 14,000-lb GVWR and 45,000-lb GCWR. Six body families, two drivetrains, SRW and DRW branches, two diesel outputs and multiple GVWR rows make the complete selector more useful than a model-wide headline. These manufacturer estimates do not certify an unseen Canadian VIN or a loaded truck.
Direct answer: 14,410 to 37,090 lb across 90 ratings
The sole 37,090-lb entry is the 4x2 Regular Cab, 8-foot-box, DRW row with the high-output 6.7L Cummins, Aisin six-speed, 4.10 axle, 14,000-lb GVWR and 45,000-lb GCWR. Its same-weight 3.73 row is 33,690 lb, and the 13,500-lb-GVWR 4.10 branch is 35,250 lb.
The 14,410-lb minimum belongs to the 4x4 Mega Cab RamBox, gas SRW row with the 6.4L V8, 3.73 axle and 22,000-lb GCWR. The adjacent 4.10 row is 16,610 lb. Neither endpoint applies to every RAM 3500.
| Reference | Exact configuration | Published maximum trailer |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 4x4 Mega Cab RamBox / gas / SRW / 3.73 / 22,000 GCWR | 14,410 lb |
| SRW maximum | 4x2 Regular Cab / HO Cummins / Aisin / 3.73 / 34,630 GCWR | 26,780 lb |
| DRW maximum | 4x2 Regular Cab / HO Cummins / Aisin / 4.10 / 14,000 GVWR / 45,000 GCWR | 37,090 lb |
Use the complete selector chain
Choose 4x2 or 4x4, cab, standard box or RamBox, SRW or DRW, engine, transmission, axle ratio and GVWR before reading GCWR and maximum trailer from the same row. A nearby line can share the engine, cab and wheel layout yet carry a different combined rating.
Stellantis labels payload and maximum-trailer weights as estimated values rounded to the nearest 10 lb and says the two maxima are mutually exclusive. Passengers, options, cargo, accessories, hitch equipment and tongue or pin weight still consume truck and axle capacity.
Three powertrain branches remain independent
The 6.4L HEMI V8 uses the 8HP75-LCV eight-speed. The standard-output 6.7L Cummins uses the 68RFE six-speed, while the high-output Cummins uses the Aisin six-speed. The two diesels cannot exchange rows merely because both displace 6.7 litres.
| Engine branch | Transmission | Published axle pattern |
|---|---|---|
| 6.4L HEMI V8 with MDS | 8HP75-LCV eight-speed | 3.73 and 4.10 |
| 6.7L Cummins standard output | 68RFE six-speed | 3.73 SRW; 3.73 and 4.10 on selected DRW rows |
| 6.7L Cummins high output | Aisin six-speed | 3.73 SRW; 3.73 and 4.10 on selected DRW rows |
All 36 4x2 completed-pickup ratings
Slash pairs preserve the chart's 3.73/4.10 order. Where a DRW cell lists 14,000 and 13,500 GVWR separately, both source branches are retained. RamBox and short-box Crew Cab groups publish SRW only.
A repeated value still represents a distinct source row when GVWR or axle ratio changes; it is not deduplicated into a universal rating.

The 4x4 chart adds Mega Cab and keeps RamBox separate. DRW appears only for Regular Cab long box, Mega Cab standard box and Crew Cab long box. The three RamBox or short-box groups are SRW-only in the source.
The 13,500-lb-GVWR high-output Mega Cab and long-box Crew Cab branches have lower trailer values than their 14,000-lb neighbours, so their repeated 29,810- and 30,720-lb pairs remain explicit.

The two charts contain 90 populated trailer cells
The four 4x2 body groups contain 36 ratings and the six 4x4 groups contain 54. Gas contributes 36 cells, standard-output Cummins 27 and high-output Cummins 27. Counts include distinct 13,500- and 14,000-lb GVWR rows rather than collapsing repeated results.
| Drive | Body groups | Gas | Standard-output diesel | High-output diesel | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4x2 | 4 | 14 | 11 | 11 | 36 |
| 4x4 | 6 | 22 | 16 | 16 | 54 |
| Total | 10 | 36 | 27 | 27 | 90 |
GVWR branches are not duplicates
The charts mark 13,500 lb and greater as DRW and lower GVWRs as SRW. Some long-box diesel DRW configurations publish both 13,500- and 14,000-lb GVWR rows with nearly identical base weights but different payload or trailer outcomes.
For example, 4x4 Regular Cab standard-output Cummins rows change from 20,230/22,230 lb at 14,000 GVWR to 20,220/22,220 lb at 13,500. The exact certification label determines which branch can even be considered.
GCWR constrains the combination, not the trailer alone
GCWR ranges from 22,000 to 45,000 lb across the two charts. It caps the combined loaded truck and trailer, while GVWR and GAWR constrain the truck and its axles. A maximum-trailer cell cannot override a lower actual hitch, tire, axle, vehicle, trailer or legal limit.
| Branch | Observed GVWR pattern | Observed GCWR pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Gas SRW | 10,700–11,400 | 22,000 or 24,200 |
| Standard Cummins SRW | 11,500–12,300 | 28,300 |
| High-output Cummins SRW | 11,500–12,300 | 32,240–34,630 |
| Gas DRW | 14,000 | 22,600 or 25,000 |
| Standard Cummins DRW | 13,500 or 14,000 | 28,300 or 30,300 |
| High-output Cummins DRW | 13,500 or 14,000 | 41,600–45,000 |
One maximum-trailer column is not three hitch ratings
The notes require a fifth-wheel hitch above 23,000 lb and a gooseneck hitch above 30,000 lb. They also assign 75 lb of equipment to a conventional hitch, 70 lb to a gooseneck and 250 lb to a fifth wheel. The tables still publish one maximum-trailer column, not three method-specific rating matrices, so no missing conventional, fifth-wheel or gooseneck value is invented.
The box-off note is not a box-off matrix
Both charts state an 80-lb-per-foot body-completion assumption from the end of cab to the end of frame, but every populated row shown here is a completed pickup with a standard box or RamBox. No chassis-cab or box-off trailer value is transferred, calculated or presented as a pickup rating.
Payload and trailer maxima cannot be stacked
Stellantis explicitly calls payload and Trailer Weight Rating mutually exclusive. Tongue or pin weight loads the truck together with occupants, cargo, tools, options, accessories and hitch hardware. Confirm the individual truck's certification and loading labels, then weigh the intended operating combination.
Source method and provenance limits
The manufacturer-authored four-page 4x2 and six-page 4x4 PDFs were downloaded from RV Safety's public archive on 14 September 2026, hashed, extracted with layout preservation, rendered at 150 dpi and visually checked page by page. Their SHA-256 values begin 68596712 and 80c02a19, and both print a Stellantis Body Builder Instruction date of 7 August 2021.
No matching current RAM-hosted copies were located. The documents carry Stellantis North America Commercial Vehicle Team branding, but the reviewed public files are archival mirrors. That provenance limit remains visible instead of being described as a live RAM-hosted source.
Verify a candidate before towing
Confirm the 2022 model year, pickup body, cab, box, 4x2 or 4x4, SRW or DRW, engine, transmission, axle ratio and GVWR. Obtain the factory build record, photograph the certification and loading labels, identify the installed hitch and account for every passenger, accessory, cargo item and tongue or pin load. Use the lowest applicable vehicle, axle, tire, hitch, trailer or legal limit.
Canadian use requires the individual truck's evidence
The tables are labelled for RAM 3500 pickup configurations, but an archived U.S. source does not establish the original market or certified rating of an unseen Canadian VIN. A Canadian candidate needs its physical labels, build documentation, installed-equipment limits and applicable provincial or territorial rules. A similar badge is not evidence for transferring a rating.
FAQ: does every high-output Cummins tow 37,090 lb?
No. High-output Cummins values in these charts span 23,000–37,090 lb. The maximum belongs only to the specified 4x2 Regular Cab DRW, 14,000-lb-GVWR, Aisin, 4.10 and 45,000-lb-GCWR row. Cab, box, drive, wheel layout, axle and GVWR can all lower the matching cell.
FAQ: are repeated and missing cells interchangeable?
No. Repeated values remain attached to their distinct GVWR or axle rows, and source absences stay absent. RamBox and short-box Crew Cab groups are SRW-only here; they do not authorize a DRW result borrowed from a standard long-box configuration.
