RAM Canada states that payload equals GVWR minus base weight. Algebra gives base weight = GVWR minus payload. This guide subtracts only a payload value from the GVWR printed on the same row and in the same 4x2 or 4x4 position.

6.4L HEMI SRW rows

The gas SRW table populates Regular Cab long box, Crew Cab short box and Crew Cab long box. The first two use an 11,040-lb GVWR for both drive positions. The long-box Crew Cab uses 11,150 lb for 4x2 and 11,440 lb for 4x4.

Why the two diesel Crew Cab short-box rows stay separate

One row pairs 11,500/11,800-lb GVWR and publishes only a 3,970-lb 4x4 payload. A second pairs 11,500/11,830 and publishes a 4,040-lb 4x2 payload while leaving its 4x4 position unavailable.

Engine and rear-wheel layout explain much of the range

The reviewed gas results top out at 7,360 lb, while the diesel results begin at 7,460 lb. That 100-lb gap separates the heaviest calculated gas cell from the lightest calculated diesel cell in this specific chart.

It is not a universal engine-weight difference. Cab, box, drive and rating branch change at the same time across many rows, and option content remains outside the broad chart columns.

The 4x2/4x4 order and source dashes matter

RAM prints paired entries in 4x2/4x4 order. A value after the slash belongs to 4x4; a value before it belongs to 4x2. When RAM prints NA, this page displays a dash and performs no subtraction for that position.

Do not reverse the pair because a heavier 4x4 seems intuitive. The header convention and exact source cell—not an expected pattern—control every transcription.

Rounded inputs limit the precision of every result

RAM's chart says weights are in pounds and rounded to the nearest 10 lb. Subtracting two rounded inputs cannot create one-pound precision, so every calculated result stays at the same 10-lb display level.

Pickup and chassis-cab values are not interchangeable

These rows belong to RAM 3500 pickups. A 3500 chassis cab is an incomplete vehicle with a separate configuration and body-completion path, and RAM 4500/5500 chassis cabs are independent models.
