For a used 2024 RAM 2500, a working rear camera and a completed radio update are not the whole electronic-systems check. The current exact-year query includes a separate central vision processing module action, two distinct steering-column concerns and a tire-speed calibration campaign. At the same time, RAM's 2024 towing sheet changes several configuration values from 2023. Reviewed on 15 September 2026, this guide connects those records with the actual owner's manual. It does not certify Canadian VIN status, assign a reliability score or interpret five campaign entries as five failures on every truck.
A radio update is not necessarily the central-vision remedy
97A / 23V654000 concerns radio software that may prevent the rearview image from displaying. Its published remedy is a radio software update. The later 46D / 26V327000 describes contamination in the central vision processing module or improper programming, also potentially preventing the image from displaying. That action calls for updating the module's software or replacing the module as necessary.
Both entries appear in the 2024 RAM 2500 query, but the sources do not say that 46D simply supersedes 97A. Keep the two identifiers and completed operations separate. A seller's generic 'camera fixed' description cannot tell you which module was addressed or whether the current VIN has any remaining action.
The 46D entry states that notification letters were expected to begin in July 2026. That dated administrative statement is not a September repair-completion record. Check the manufacturer response for the candidate now, obtain itemized work orders and have any missing or intermittent image investigated before relying on it during manoeuvring.
The other three records ask different safety questions
The following are the other entries in the exact-model-year query. Their shared electronic-module vocabulary does not make the repairs interchangeable, and a broad multi-model campaign description is not permission to assign every engine or trim to its affected population.
| Campaign | Condition described | Published action |
|---|---|---|
| B2A / D5A / 23V799000 | SCCM may cross-activate high beams and turn signals, or fail to self-cancel the turn signal. | Update SCCM software; inspect and replace the module as necessary. |
| 14B / 33B / 34B / 35B / 36B / 24V199000 | An improper SCCM weld may prevent the driver's airbag from deploying. | Inspect and replace the SCCM as necessary. |
| 43D / 26V288000 | PCM software may permit speed above the tire speed rating. | Update PCM software; verify current VIN applicability. |
Tire pressure monitoring does not replace tire-speed calibration
43D concerns the vehicle's powertrain software and tire speed rating. It is not a trailer-pressure sensor recall and is not resolved by inflating tires, changing a radio trailer profile or demonstrating that pressure readings appear. Do not attempt a high-speed test to determine whether a candidate has the problem; obtain the current manufacturer eligibility and completion record.
The exact 2024 owner's manual separately describes Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System, or TTPMS, as an if-equipped feature. It supports up to 12 tires for each configured trailer and up to four trailer profiles. The sensors must be installed and paired; the four supplied sensors do not automatically monitor every tire on a larger trailer.
The manual distinguishes low pressure, a system-service warning, an unconfigured selected trailer and received sensors that match a different stored trailer. Those conditions call for different checks. A profile mismatch is not proof of failed tire hardware, while a service warning should not be dismissed merely by selecting another trailer.
These are owner operating limits, not a measured sensor failure rate or proof that every 2024 truck has TTPMS. The exact system, sensors, trailer and settings must be identified on the candidate before using the feature to assess suitability.
Trailer construction and pairing affect the usefulness of the display
The manual warns that steel-walled trailers and trailers longer than 30 ft may cause transmission difficulty. It recommends standard tires and trailers shorter than 30 ft to avoid dropouts or pairing difficulty. A long enclosed trailer therefore deserves a compatibility assessment; a screen demonstration with a small open trailer does not establish reliable readings with a different trailer.
It also says not to drive the vehicle until pairing is complete. Follow the complete manufacturer's procedure in a safe stationary setting rather than improvising from a buying guide. Correct target pressure must come from the applicable trailer and tire requirements, not from the previous owner's stored profile or a desire to silence a warning.
After a pressure or service condition is corrected, the described system can need driving time to receive updated information. That display-update behaviour is not permission to drive on an unsafe tire. Verify physical condition and correct pressure independently before any permitted operation.
The manufacturer-authored 2024 second-edition owner manual was recovered in an external archive. Its cover and selected printed pages 283–284 were visually checked. This is not an exhaustive review of the 420-page manual, a complete pairing procedure or a complete maintenance schedule.
The 2024 powertrain sheet keeps three different engine branches
RAM's exact 2024 manufacturer sheet identifies the 2500's 6.4L Hemi/eight-speed 8HP75-LCV at 410 hp and 429 lb-ft, and the standard-output 6.7L Cummins/six-speed 68RFE at 370 hp and 850 lb-ft. The sheet also describes a 420-hp/1,075-lb-ft high-output Cummins/Aisin combination for the 3500. That third branch is not a 2024 RAM 2500 specification.
The 2500 table's slash order is 4x2/4x4, with blank and NA positions preserved. In the selected diesel examples below, the 20,000-lb values belong to specific Crew Cab rows with their own GCWR values. The unusual 27,837, 27,963 and 27,977 entries are retained as printed, not rounded into one invented 28,000-lb family.
| 2024 Cummins/68RFE/3.73 configuration | GVWR / GCWR, lb | Maximum trailer, lb |
|---|---|---|
| Rebel Crew Cab 4x4, 6-ft-4 box | 9,680 / 23,100 | 14,900 |
| Regular Cab 4x2, 8-ft box | 9,900 / 27,320 | 19,980 |
| Regular Cab 4x2, 8-ft box | 10,000 / 27,320 | 19,990 |
| Crew Cab 4x2, 8-ft box | 10,000 / 27,837 | 20,000 |
| Crew Cab 4x4, 6-ft-4 box | 9,900 / 27,963 | 20,000 |
| Crew Cab 4x4, 6-ft-4 box | 10,000 / 27,977 | 20,000 |
| Mega Cab 4x4, 6-ft-4 box | 9,900 / 24,240 | 15,880 |
| Mega Cab 4x4, 6-ft-4 box | 10,000 / 24,240 | 15,840 |
Changed ratings are not a reliability improvement score
The 2024 Rebel example is 14,900 lb, compared with 14,920 lb in the reviewed later 2023 chart. The standard 2024 short-box Crew Cab 4x4 rows reach 20,000 lb, whereas the selected 2023 standard rows publish 19,980 lb at 10,000-lb GVWR and 19,170 lb at 9,900-lb GVWR. Preserve the whole year/configuration/GCWR row when comparing those numbers.
The Mega Cab examples also show why a larger GVWR label is not enough to predict the table's trailer rating: the 9,900-lb branch lists 15,880 lb, while the 10,000-lb branch lists 15,840 lb. Do not manufacture a monotonic capacity rule or subtract unrelated endpoints to explain away the published values.
This numeric source is a U.S. manufacturer sheet, not a Canadian VIN certificate. The examples are not the complete matrix. Match the actual truck's labels, equipment and loaded weights, allowing for people, cargo, hitch hardware and tongue or pin weight within GVWR, GCWR, axle, tire and hitch limits. Published payload and trailer maxima are not simultaneously available capacities.
The buying verdict depends on the truck's records and intended job
Resolve current manufacturer VIN eligibility and any safety restrictions first. Ask specifically about the radio action, central-vision update or replacement, each steering-column action and PCM tire-speed calibration. Do not automatically carry the 2023 heater-relay or transmission-control-unit entries into 2024 merely because the adjacent year shares a model name; their absence from this query is also not blanket proof that every 2024 VIN is clear.
Then commission an independent inspection of starting, leaks, shifting, warning history, steering, tires, suspension and modifications. Test fitted towing-assistance features under their proper conditions and with a suitable trailer. A candidate can be assessed on documented condition and configuration, but no lifespan, year ranking or failure frequency is established here. The site's catalogue profiles remain references rather than active offers, verified sellers or available inventory.
Evidence note: manufacturer documents establish the specific facts and applications cited. Buying workflows and cost scenarios are DieselTrucks.ca editorial guidance. These pages do not publish measured failure rates or confirm the condition, recall status or capacity of a particular truck.
