Its separate 6.6L gas engine is rated at 401 hp and 464 lb-ft and uses the 6L90 six-speed. The diesel's published final-drive ratio is 3.42, versus 3.73 for the gas pairing.
Those details matter when checking a service bulletin: matching the year and badge is not sufficient if the document also specifies an engine or transmission code. Confirm the original build information and any replacement-unit history. Do not give a 2023 truck later-model power ratings or assume that every Sierra HD bulletin describes both engines.
Misfire codes: inspect the connector before assuming injector failure
GM bulletin 23-NA-027, dated April 2023, includes 2017–2023 Sierra 2500HD/3500HD with the L5P diesel. It describes poor performance, misfires and injector-circuit or misfire codes, including P0201–P0208 and P0300–P0308. The possible mechanism is vibration-related wear between an injector connector terminal and the injector, not proof that every injector with a code requires replacement.

The stated remedy replaces the exterior touchpad switch assemblies. Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Verify applicability and completion for the actual VIN with GMC; an apparently working switch at the inspection is not proof that the campaign was completed.
One returned U.S. record is neither a complete Canadian VIN report nor evidence that 2023 is more reliable than a year with more entries. Do not import another model year's brake or transmission campaign simply because the truck looks similar. Printed page 294 of the 2023 HD owner manual explains that the system can remember a trailer profile's brake-gain setting, including a Guest Trailer profile. A notice can indicate that a stored gain has been recalled; that is not a measurement showing the gain suits today's load.
The manual requires gain adjustment when vehicle loading, trailer loading or road-surface conditions change. It also says the gain-setting error pop-up does not appear with Guest Trailer active or with no trailer connected. Absence of that pop-up therefore cannot establish that every setting or connection is correct.
Guest Trailer does not support the same total-mileage, tire-pressure-monitoring and maintenance-reminder functions as a custom profile. Accessory/No Trailer also has restricted tracking and alerts. For a buying inspection, identify the active profile and real connected equipment before treating a missing display function as hardware failure. Have trailer braking assessed with appropriate equipment and qualified assistance; remembered settings cannot increase payload, axle or hitch limits.
