Exact 2024 powertrain choices: verify the branch before comparing trucks

Ford Canada's 2024 guide lists the same four engine families introduced for the redesigned range. The 6.8L gas V8 remains standard on XL; ten-speed automatics are standard, and 4x4 is included on XLT and above. The standard-output diesel and high-output diesel are distinct choices, not two descriptions for any 6.7L truck.

Use the factory record, engine identification and service documents to verify what is installed. A seller's claim of more power after tuning does not establish factory high-output identity or a higher towing limit. Engine output, payload and trailer ratings are independent attributes and need not reach their maxima on the same configuration.

24S66: water intrusion requires a hardware-and-software review

The U.S. record for Ford 24S66 / 24V806 concerns certain 2023–2024 F-250, F-350 and F-450 vehicles. It describes water entering the Tailgate Park Assist Sensor Interface Module, or TPASIM, with an intermittent, blue or black rear-camera image. That is a specific module and equipment concern, not evidence that every camera interruption has the same cause.

The recorded remedy combines replacement of the tailgate top camera, harness and TPASIM with Image Processing Module A software work. It reports owner letters mailed on 6 August 2025. For a candidate that is included, ask for the repair order identifying the completed operations. A note saying only software updated does not, by itself, document all actions in this remedy.

Confirm Canadian applicability and the current repair instructions by VIN. Inspect for tailgate damage, altered wiring and unexplained replacement parts, but have the diagnosis made professionally. Neither a wet-weather symptom nor a replaced camera alone proves this campaign was the cause or that all required work is complete.

Two APIM software campaigns must not be collapsed into one camera fault

Ford 25S49 / U.S. 25V315 describes delayed, frozen or missing rear-camera images in a broad defined population. The U.S. record specifies Accessory Protocol Interface Module software work, with rollout phases by model and year and dealer or over-the-air delivery. A campaign appearing across many models does not establish a universal F-250 fault or tell you which phase applied to an unseen VIN.

Ford 26C37 / U.S. 26V489 is different: certain trucks with eight-inch SYNC screens can have the reversing image obstructed by the home-screen menu. The record retrieved on 15 September 2026 still says a remedy was anticipated in September after interim letters in August. That forecast is not confirmation that a candidate can receive the final remedy today.

Keep the campaign identifier, fitted screen and repair outcome together. Similar symptoms do not make TPASIM hardware replacement, a general APIM camera update and the eight-inch menu-obstruction update interchangeable. A current Ford Canada lookup and dealer confirmation are needed for the actual truck.

26C10: trailer-module communication is a separate towing-safety question

The U.S. record for Ford 26C10 / 26V104 includes a defined 2024 Super Duty population within a broader campaign. A loss of Integrated Trailer Module communication may interrupt trailer lights or brake functions. The recorded action is a module software update through a dealer or over the air; the record reports letters mailed on 25 March 2026.

Before towing, verify the truck's campaign status and safely check the actual trailer connection, lights and braking system. A published 22,000-lb towing number cannot prove the electrical connection is functioning. Conversely, a wiring or trailer fault does not automatically diagnose the campaign condition. Keep the vehicle's update history and the technician's findings distinct.

Use the owner's camera limitations when evaluating a complaint

Ford's exact 2024 owner manual calls the reversing camera a supplementary aid, not a replacement for mirrors and observation. For the rear-camera system described on printed page 285, an ajar tailgate puts the camera out of position and removes guide lines. A connected trailer can also change the displayed guide lines and obstruct what the camera can see.

These operating limitations matter when a seller describes an unusual image, but they must not be used to dismiss a frozen, missing or intermittently blue image. Test the fitted equipment safely in the conditions described by the manual and document the symptom. Do not switch camera features while moving, deliberately rely on a failed display, or substitute an article for Ford's instructions.

Same towing headlines do not mean the 2023 chart is interchangeable

The Canadian 2024 guide retains selected-configuration maxima of 22,000 lb conventional, 22,300 lb fifth-wheel and 23,000 lb gooseneck. The gooseneck maximum requires the high-output diesel, Regular Cab 4x2, eight-foot box, 3.31 or 3.55 axle, 31,000-lb GCWR and package 535. It is not the rating of every high-output truck.

The independently reviewed 2024 matrix leaves several 3.31-axle diesel SuperCab positions blank where a neighbouring 3.55 row is populated. It also marks fixed-9,900-lb-GVWR and 10,000-plus-GVWR alternatives in selected bed-mounted cells. Do not fill a blank from the previous year, another axle or the higher number in a slash entry.

For a purchase, match the exact body, axle, GCWR and factory package, then check the candidate's payload, GVWR, rear GAWR, tire and hitch labels against the intended load. A source blank is not a mechanical-reliability verdict, and a table maximum is not Canadian VIN certification.
