The exact U.S. model-year result reconciled on 16 September 2026 contains one action for certain gasoline trucks with dual fuel tanks. Those specifications do not identify the tank arrangement, rear axle, SRW or DRW chassis, cab, trim, installed body or hitch.
Record the engine and fuel-system RPOs, then confirm cab, bed, drive, axle and hitch from build information and labels. The safety action below requires both the L8T gasoline engine and N2N dual fuel tanks. A Duramax, a gasoline truck without N2N or an upfitted truck with an aftermarket tank is a different evidence lane unless its live VIN result says otherwise.
The exact result has one configuration-specific campaign
The exact 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 result contains 26V129000 / N262544420. NHTSA's campaign summary includes certain 2025–2026 Silverado 3500 and Sierra 3500 vehicles with gasoline engines and dual tanks. The 2025 Silverado 2500 query's 26V530000 accessory tire-and-wheel action is absent and is not imported.
The one-record result does not say that every gasoline truck, every dual-tank installation or any Duramax is involved. Confirm L8T and N2N from the build record and use a current VIN lookup. Preserve the completion method and calibration record rather than treating a notice or downloaded package as completed work.

26V129 is a gasoline dual-tank fuel-transfer action
The campaign summary says the rear fuel pump may not transfer enough fuel to the front tank, which can cause an engine stall and increase crash risk. The published remedy is an engine-control-module update performed by a dealer or delivered over the air without charge. It does not prescribe rear-pump replacement for every involved truck.
NHTSA says involved VINs became searchable on 5 March 2026 and owner letters were mailed 8 April 2026. 21-NA-238 requires a verified front-cover leak
GM bulletin 21-NA-238 version 9 includes 2020–2025 Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD applications with L5P or L8T engines and listed MGM, MGU or MKM transmissions. Its condition is transmission fluid reported near the bellhousing inspection cover; a rolled or damaged automatic-transmission case front-cover seal is one possible cause.
The correction applies only after the leak is verified at that seal: replace the front-cover seal and torque-converter fluid seal using service information. The bulletin does not call for automatic transmission replacement, prove that every bellhousing-area trace is transmission fluid or establish how often the condition occurs.
Clean and trace the leak, identify the fluid and document its origin before approving work. Keep engine oil, cooler lines, transfer-case fluid and residue from prior service separate. GM writes the bulletin for professional technicians and warns against assuming applicability without diagnosis.
4WD indicator completion matters more than a button press
The 2025 HD owner manual distinguishes the automatic two-speed transfer case from the separate part-time two-speed unit. On the automatic system, AUTO can distribute power based on conditions; 4HI and 4LO remain distinct modes. A requested shift begins after the button is released, and the indicator flashes until completion.
For 4LO, the vehicle must be stopped or moving below 5 km/h with the transmission in Neutral; the manual identifies 1.6–3.2 km/h as best. Selecting a transmission gear before the requested mode indicator stops flashing can damage the transfer case. Those are operating limits, not a diagnostic shortcut.
Confirm the installed transfer case, scan the relevant modules and test only under safe conditions. Record whether the request completes, returns to the previous state or produces a message. A button lamp, 4x4 badge or seller demonstration is not proof of engagement and disengagement.

The Duramax Regular Cab long-bed 2WD DRW base row is 35,500/32,000 lb; the Work Truck with Max Trailering is 36,000/32,000 lb. The fifth-wheel member is 32,000 lb in both cases and must not inherit the 36,000-lb gooseneck value.
