Check engine-oil level and remaining oil life there, follow the oil-life message and annual ceiling, watch the engine-air-filter life messages, replace the fuel filter at its earliest distance, time or message trigger, and drain and fill both referenced cooling circuits at the specified long-horizon trigger.
That is not a universal Duramax-family calendar. The supplement identifies a 2025 6.6L L5P application and expressly directs owners to the vehicle owner manual for other services. What the 2025 supplement actually controls

GM places a recurring diesel service review every 12,000 km (7,500 mi). At that point the owner checks engine-oil level and the displayed oil-life percentage, then changes oil and filter if needed. The wording matters: it does not command an oil change at every 7,500-mile step regardless of the oil-life system, and it does not guarantee that the monitor will always wait that long.
Use the row as a disciplined inspection and ledger point. Record the odometer, date, engine hours where available, remaining oil-life percentage, oil level, messages, actual duty and any work completed. A reset percentage by itself is not proof that the correct oil and filter were installed or that the work occurred on that date.
The oil-life message creates a 600-mile service window

Annual oil service remains a hard calendar limit

For stored, seasonal or lightly driven trucks, preserve calendar evidence even when the odometer barely changes. An accidental reset creates a separate 3,000-mile control

This control also explains why a used-truck inspection should not treat 100-percent oil life as a maintenance certificate. Air-filter life is message- and condition-controlled
The 12,000-km review also preserves the engine-air-filter life system. When REPLACE AT NEXT OIL CHANGE appears, the filter is replaced with the next oil service. When REPLACE ENGINE AIR FILTER SOON appears, GM calls for replacement at the earliest convenience. The system is reset after the filter is replaced.
Do not replace a filter early simply to make it look clean, and do not ignore physical damage, an improperly sealed housing or service evidence outside the monitor. Record the message, filter identity, housing and duct condition, date, distance and environment. Excessive dust and off-road duty are relevant to the fuel-filter rule too, but they do not make every filter share one interval.
Fuel-filter service has three competing triggers
The reviewed schedule replaces the fuel filter every 36,000 km (22,500 mi), every two years, or when the CHANGE FUEL FILTER message appears, whichever comes first. These are parallel controls. A driver cannot choose the longest one, and a reset monitor does not erase the calendar or distance record.
After replacement, reset the fuel-filter-life display as directed. Preserve the part, date, odometer, engine hours, fuel or water observations and invoice.
