Chevrolet's Canadian 2026 Trailering Guide publishes Silverado 2500HD ratings from 14,500 to 20,000 lb for conventional towing and up to 22,050 lb for combined gooseneck/fifth-wheel towing. The 22,050-lb cell belongs to a 4x4 long-bed Duramax Regular Cab or Double Cab with the Max Trailering Package, 18- or 20-inch wheels, 11,450-lb GVWR and 30,000-lb GCWR. Crew Cab, gas, ZR2, High Country and non-package trucks use different rows. Match the complete row and the truck's labels before treating any number as usable capacity.

Direct answer: 22,050 lb is an in-bed maximum, not a universal rating

The highest detailed 2026 Silverado 2500HD rating is 22,050 lb. Chevrolet assigns it to two Max Trailering Package rows: Regular Cab long-bed 4x4 and Double Cab long-bed 4x4, both with the 6.6L Duramax, 18- or 20-inch wheels, 11,450-lb GVWR and 30,000-lb GCWR. The same rows are limited to 14,500 lb with a conventional hitch.

Selected Duramax Crew Cab Max Trailering rows reach 21,510, 21,600 or 21,490 lb in the combined gooseneck/fifth-wheel column and 20,000 lb conventionally. Base trucks, gas engines and different cab, bed, wheel or drive selections can be materially lower. Chevrolet says passengers, cargo and options can further reduce the vehicle-specific amount.

Double Cab long-bed rows

The long bed changes both conventional and in-bed results. Several diesel rows publish the same number in both hitch columns, while the Max Trailering row separates a 14,500-lb conventional limit from the 22,050-lb in-bed maximum.

Crew Cab standard-bed rows

Crew Cab standard-bed configurations carry the highest published conventional rating. The Max Trailering rows use 30,000-lb GCWR, but 2WD and 4x4 retain different GVWR selectors and neither equals the Regular or Double Cab in-bed maximum.

Crew Cab ZR2, High Country and long-bed branches

ZR2, ZR2 Bison and High Country are named source branches, not styling labels that can be ignored. Chevrolet's footnotes reduce ZR2 Bison combined in-bed towing to 16,900 lb with gas and 15,570 lb with Duramax. The High Country Max Trailering row reaches the highest detailed Crew Cab value of 21,600 lb.

Crew Cab long-bed 4x4 Max Trailering publishes 21,490 lb, not the 22,050-lb Regular and Double Cab maximum. The non-package long-bed Duramax rows shown in the Canadian guide reach 19,000 lb in-bed, while selected gas rows publish 18,280 lb.

Why the 22,070-lb Crew Cab headline is not substituted into the table

Chevrolet Canada's current Silverado HD page advertises a 22,070-lb maximum for a 2500HD Crew Cab. The detailed Canadian guide reviewed here tops Crew Cab at 21,600 lb, and Chevrolet's official three-page 2026 selector tops its displayed combined in-bed cells at 22,050 lb for Regular and Double Cab Max Trailering rows. The page does not expose a row that validates 22,070 lb.

This guide preserves the difference instead of inventing a configuration. For an actual truck, use its Trailering Information label, certification label, build record and matching source row. Ask Chevrolet to identify the supporting 22,070-lb Crew Cab configuration if that 470-lb difference from the detailed Crew Cab maximum affects the planned load.

Conventional and in-bed ratings must remain separate

Chevrolet prints one combined gooseneck/fifth-wheel column for 2500HD, so no separate hitch values are fabricated. A conventional receiver cannot use a 22,050-lb in-bed cell. Conversely, an in-bed coupling does not erase a lower payload, rear-axle, tire, wheel or hitch-component limit.

The Canadian guide recommends 10–15 percent conventional tongue weight and 15–25 percent gooseneck/fifth-wheel kingpin weight. Those are loading ranges, not permission to exceed GVWR or rear GAWR. Occupants, cargo, accessories and hitch hardware consume the same available truck capacity.

Z82, UY2 and Z6A describe equipment, not a blanket rating

The Canadian guide describes Z82 as the available Trailering Package with the rear hitch platform and sealed connector. UY2 is the available camper/fifth-wheel wiring harness and requires Z82. Z6A prepares a frame-connected platform for a gooseneck ball or fifth-wheel hitch, adds box wiring and prepared bed openings, and includes a spray-on bedliner in the cited application.

Prepared hardware does not turn every truck into a Max Trailering configuration. Confirm the build codes, hitch identity, installation, ball or coupler, safety-chain anchors, clearances, wiring, brake controller and each component's rating.

How to identify the correct 2026 row

Start with model year, then retain engine, cab, bed, drive, wheel group, GVWR, GCWR and Max Trailering status as a single selector. Do not select by Duramax badge alone. A lower-GVWR fleet configuration, ZR2, High Country or different wheel package can lead to another row even when the cab and engine match.

For a used truck, photograph the certification, tire/loading, Trailering Information and hitch labels. Obtain the build record, then weigh the normal travel configuration with occupants, fuel, cargo and hitch installed. Aftermarket springs or higher-rated tires do not rewrite Chevrolet's GVWR, GAWR or GCWR.

Source method and exact-year boundary

Chevrolet Canada's active 49-page 2026 Trailering Guide was read on numbered pages 33–38, where the Silverado 2500HD pickup rows and package footnotes appear. Chevrolet's separate official three-page 2026 Silverado 2500HD selector independently confirms the cab, bed, drive, engine, wheel, GVWR, GCWR and maximum placements. No adjacent-year, GMC, calculated or secondary rating supplies a source position.

The matrix is Canadian-market manufacturer literature, but this page cannot certify an unseen Canadian VIN or prove that required equipment remains installed. It also does not backfill 2026 values into 2025 or earlier trucks. Source values that differ from a marketing headline remain disclosed rather than normalized.

FAQ: does every 2026 Duramax 2500HD tow 22,050 lb?

No. The 22,050-lb cell is restricted to identified long-bed 4x4 Max Trailering Package rows. Detailed Duramax in-bed ratings include values as low as 10,910 lb, and conventional ratings for the same model family range from 14,500 to 20,000 lb.

FAQ: is a 22,050-lb trailer automatically usable?

No. The source rating is a comparison maximum for a properly equipped configuration. Actual passengers, cargo, options, accessories, hitch hardware, pin or tongue weight, axle loads, tires, wheels and trailer components can impose lower limits. Verify labels and measured loads.

This exact-year specification page does not replace the broader Silverado 2500HD towing guide, rank reliability, predict failure rates, diagnose condition, promise remaining payload, or claim inventory, sellers, dealer counts, prices, financing or offers. The model guide owns broader research and the marketplace remains a separate protected commercial route.
