Chevrolet's official 2024 Trailering Guide publishes 75 populated Silverado 2500HD configurations and 150 base hitch cells. Ratings span 11,170 to 22,430 lb. The 22,430-lb maximum is limited to a Duramax Double Cab long-bed 2WD with the Max Trailering Package, 18- or 20-inch wheels, 11,200-lb GVWR and 30,000-lb GCWR. New package, ZR2, ZR2 Bison, High Country, wheel and tire branches make this matrix materially different from 2023. Match the complete row and the truck's labels; a model badge or headline maximum is not a vehicle-specific rating.
Direct answer: 11,170 to 22,430 lb across the 150 base cells
The highest combined fifth-wheel/gooseneck rating is 22,430 lb on one Duramax Double Cab long-bed 2WD Max Trailering Package row. The corresponding 4x4 package row is 22,050 lb. Crew Cab Max Trailering Package rows top out from 21,510 to 21,600 lb, so they must not inherit the Double Cab headline.
The maximum conventional rating is 20,000 lb on the six Max Trailering Package rows and the Duramax long-bed High Country 4x4 row. The lowest base cell is 11,170 lb on two 10,000-lb-GVWR Duramax Crew Cab long-bed 4x4 positions. Tire and trim footnotes add lower or alternate limits that remain attached to their source rows.
| Reference point | Exact branch | Published rating |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum in-bed | Duramax Double Cab long bed 2WD; Max Trailering Package; 11,200 GVWR / 30,000 GCWR | 22,430 lb |
| Maximum conventional | Six Max Trailering Package rows plus Duramax long-bed High Country 4x4 | 20,000 lb |
| Lowest base cell | Duramax Crew Cab long bed 4x4; 10,000 GVWR; 17- or 18-inch wheel branch | 11,170 lb |
| ZR2 Bison alternatives | Gas / diesel Crew Cab standard-bed 4x4 ZR2 | 16,900 / 15,570 lb in-bed |
| Mud-terrain branches | Marked 4x4 rows with QG3 LT275/70R18 MT tires | Separate source limits retained |
How to use the 75-row selector
Choose Regular, Double or Crew Cab, then bed length and 2WD or 4x4. Match gas or Duramax, wheel or tire branch, GVWR and GCWR. Max Trailering Package, ZR2, ZR2 Bison and High Country are separate configurations, not decorative labels.
The tables reproduce every populated row on numbered pages 31–36. A cell such as 16,000 AT / 12,000 MT preserves Chevrolet's tire-specific alternative; it is not a range. The combined in-bed column is not split into invented fifth-wheel and gooseneck values.
Regular Cab long-bed rows
Regular Cab is long-bed only. Its nine rows range from 14,500 lb conventional to 18,700 lb in-bed; no Max Trailering Package row is printed for this cab.

Double Cab standard-bed and Max Trailering rows
Numbered page 32 prints 13 Double Cab positions: standard-bed 2WD and 4x4 rows plus separate long-bed Max Trailering Package rows. The page's black continuation band says Regular Cab, but Chevrolet's separate official three-page selector assigns these standard-bed and package columns to Double Cab, and numbered page 33 continues the Double Cab table. That manufacturer-source labeling conflict is disclosed rather than silently hidden.

Double Cab long-bed rows
The remaining 11 Double Cab rows range from 11,770 to 18,400 lb in-bed. The two low-GVWR diesel 4x4 rows remain distinct, and two marked 18/20-inch 4x4 rows retain a 12,000-lb conventional mud-terrain alternative.

Crew Cab ZR2, High Country and long-bed 2WD rows
ZR2 and High Country remain named rows. ZR2 Bison reduces the gas in-bed value from 18,070 to 16,900 lb and the diesel value from 18,100 to 15,570 lb. Long-bed 2WD rows span 13,120 to 19,200 lb in-bed; the High Country 4x4 pair on this page remains separate.

The final 11 rows contain the 11,170-lb minimum and the sixth Max Trailering Package position. The gas 18/20-inch row has both conventional and in-bed mud-terrain alternatives; High Country again remains a separate two-row branch.

Matrix accounting and year-over-year change
The six configuration tables contain 75 populated rows: nine Regular Cab, 24 Double Cab and 42 Crew Cab. Each row has one conventional and one combined fifth-wheel/gooseneck cell, producing 150 base cells before tire-, trim- and Bison-specific alternatives are disclosed inside affected cells.
This is not the 2023 matrix with a new title. Chevrolet raises the headline from 18,510 to 22,430 lb and introduces six Max Trailering Package rows, two ZR2 rows, two ZR2 Bison alternatives, revised 24,500/26,000/27,500/30,000-lb GCWR branches and changed base values throughout.
| Branch | Rows | Base hitch cells | Important additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular Cab | 9 | 18 | Revised gas and diesel values |
| Double Cab | 24 | 48 | Two Max Trailering Package rows |
| Crew Cab | 42 | 84 | Four package rows; ZR2, Bison and High Country |
| Total | 75 | 150 | All populated source rows retained |
GVWR, GCWR, payload and hitch load remain independent
GVWR selects the loaded-truck limit; GCWR caps the loaded truck-and-trailer combination. Neither is interchangeable with trailer rating. The six package rows use 30,000-lb GCWR, while other rows use 24,500, 26,000 or 27,500 lb.
Chevrolet recommends 10–15 percent conventional tongue weight and 15–25 percent fifth-wheel/gooseneck kingpin weight. Passengers, cargo, options, accessories and hitch hardware consume payload. Confirm the certification, tire/loading and Trailering Information labels and every axle, tire, hitch and trailer limit.
Source method and exact-year limits
Chevrolet's active 48-page 2024 Trailering Guide was downloaded, hashed, extracted and visually reviewed on numbered pages 31–36. Those six pages contain the full 2500HD matrix and all tire, Bison, bumper-hitch and prep-package footnotes. The file's SHA-256 is 8f8d2a8754902d8ed3f308eb1fa9ca1d58101ff8c9cc843926a2a66bc5341da3.
Chevrolet's separate official three-page 2024 Silverado 2500HD conventional and in-bed selector independently confirms the cab/bed/drive/package placement and the 22,430-lb maximum. Both are U.S. documents: they do not certify an unseen Canadian VIN or prove installed equipment. No GMC, adjacent-year, calculated, reliability or commercial claim supplies a source position.
FAQ: does every 2024 Duramax 2500HD tow 22,430 lb?
No. The 22,430-lb value belongs only to the Duramax Double Cab long-bed 2WD Max Trailering Package row. Other Duramax base cells are as low as 11,170 lb, and cab, bed, drive, wheels, GVWR, GCWR, package, tires and hitch method can all change the result.
FAQ: are fifth-wheel and gooseneck ratings separate?
Not in these 2500HD tables. Chevrolet prints one combined fifth-wheel/gooseneck column, so this guide keeps one combined value per row. A vehicle or hitch component can still impose a lower independent limit.
