The official 2026 GM order guide publishes Sierra 1500 base curb weights from 4,440 to 5,890 lb. The 4,440-lb minimum is the 2WD Regular Cab standard bed with L3B TurboMax; the 5,890-lb maximum is the lifted AT4X 4WD short-bed Crew Cab with LZ0 3.0L Duramax. Between them are separate L3B, L84 5.3L V8, L87 6.2L V8 and LZ0 rows, plus NHT Max Trailering Package variants where GM populates them. These are base curb weights for source-defined configurations, not the actual scale weight, payload or rating of an equipped truck.
Direct answer: 2026 Sierra 1500 base curb weight is 4,440–5,890 lb
GM's lightest populated row is 4,440 lb for a 2WD Regular Cab standard bed with L3B. Its heaviest is 5,890 lb for the lifted AT4X short-bed Crew Cab with LZ0. Neither endpoint applies across the Sierra 1500 lineup.
Cab, bed, drive, lift, engine and NHT status select the exact cell. The physical truck can weigh differently after options, accessories, fuel, occupants, cargo or alterations, so use the source value for comparison and a scale for actual weight.
| Reviewed 2026 endpoint | Base curb weight | Configuration |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 4,440 lb (2,014 kg) | Regular Cab standard bed, 2WD, L3B |
| Maximum | 5,890 lb (2,672 kg) | Crew Cab short bed, 4WD, lifted AT4X, LZ0 |
| Diesel non-lifted span | 5,120–5,460 lb | LZ0 rows without/with NHT |
| Individual truck | Measured scale weight | Installed equipment and loading condition |
Engine and package codes control the matrix
L3B identifies the TurboMax engine, L84 the 5.3L V8, L87 the 6.2L V8 and LZ0 the 3.0L Duramax diesel. NHT is the Max Trailering Package condition in the order guide. Preserve the code with every value.
A blank source cell remains unavailable in that row. It is not zero weight and cannot be filled from a neighbouring engine, drive or body column.
Regular Cab base-curb-weight matrix
Regular Cab rows contain L3B and L84 values only. Standard- and long-bed identities remain separate, and 4WD adds weight in both engine branches.
The reviewed guide does not populate L87 or LZ0 Regular Cab base-curb-weight rows. This page keeps those omissions instead of inferring diesel or 6.2L values.
| Regular Cab configuration | L3B TurboMax | L84 5.3L V8 |
|---|---|---|
| 2WD standard bed | 4,440 lb (2,014 kg) | 4,620 lb (2,096 kg) |
| 2WD long bed | 4,530 lb (2,055 kg) | 4,650 lb (2,109 kg) |
| 4WD standard bed | 4,660 lb (2,114 kg) | 4,840 lb (2,195 kg) |
| 4WD long bed | 4,770 lb (2,164 kg) | 4,900 lb (2,223 kg) |
Double Cab base-curb-weight matrix
The Double Cab standard-bed rows publish five engine/package branches. NHT increases the L84 base value by 190 lb in 2WD and 160 lb in 4WD; the LZ0 differences are 60 and 50 lb respectively.
Those changes belong to the paired source cells, not a universal package allowance. Other equipment may differ, and actual weight still requires measurement.
| Double Cab standard bed | L3B | L84 | L84 + NHT | LZ0 | LZ0 + NHT |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2WD | 4,750 | 4,840 | 5,030 | 5,120 | 5,180 lb |
| 4WD | 4,960 | 5,080 | 5,240 | 5,350 | 5,400 lb |
Crew Cab short-bed 2WD matrix
For the non-lifted 2WD short-bed Crew Cab, GM publishes 4,760 lb with L3B, 4,890 lb with L84, 5,150 lb with L84 plus NHT, 5,130 lb with LZ0 and 5,200 lb with LZ0 plus NHT.
L87 cells are blank for this body/drive row. The slightly higher L84-plus-NHT value than base LZ0 is preserved as published rather than reordered into an assumed engine hierarchy.
Crew Cab short-bed 4WD matrix
The non-lifted 4WD short-bed Crew Cab publishes 4,990 lb with L3B; 5,110/5,270 lb with L84 without/with NHT; 5,350/5,390 lb with L87; and 5,380/5,420 lb with LZ0.
Each slash pair is base versus NHT for one engine, not a range for a single truck. Match the engine code and package before using the value.
| 4WD short-bed Crew engine | Base | With NHT |
|---|---|---|
| L3B TurboMax | 4,990 lb | — |
| L84 5.3L V8 | 5,110 lb | 5,270 lb |
| L87 6.2L V8 | 5,350 lb | 5,390 lb |
| LZ0 3.0L Duramax | 5,380 lb | 5,420 lb |
Crew Cab standard-bed 4WD matrix
The non-lifted standard-bed Crew Cab publishes 5,030 lb with L3B; 5,160/5,320 lb with L84; 5,400/5,440 lb with L87; and 5,420/5,460 lb with LZ0, where paired values are without/with NHT.
The longer bed does not add one fixed amount across engines and packages. Use the TK10743 body row rather than adjusting a short-bed value.
| 4WD standard-bed Crew engine | Base | With NHT |
|---|---|---|
| L3B TurboMax | 5,030 lb | — |
| L84 5.3L V8 | 5,160 lb | 5,320 lb |
| L87 6.2L V8 | 5,400 lb | 5,440 lb |
| LZ0 3.0L Duramax | 5,420 lb | 5,460 lb |
Lifted Crew Cab rows are separate configurations
The lifted 4WD short-bed Crew Cab publishes 5,410 lb with L87 and 5,500 lb with LZ0. The lifted 4WD standard-bed Crew Cab publishes 5,460 and 5,540 lb respectively.
L3B, L84 and NHT cells are blank in these lifted rows. The guide's lift header remains part of the configuration rather than an accessory weight to add independently.
| Lifted Crew Cab | L87 6.2L V8 | LZ0 3.0L Duramax |
|---|---|---|
| 4WD short bed | 5,410 lb (2,454 kg) | 5,500 lb (2,495 kg) |
| 4WD standard bed | 5,460 lb (2,477 kg) | 5,540 lb (2,513 kg) |
| 4WD short bed AT4X | 5,720 lb (2,595 kg) | 5,890 lb (2,672 kg) |
AT4X is not the generic lifted row
GM gives lifted AT4X its own short-bed Crew Cab column: 5,720 lb with L87 and 5,890 lb with LZ0. Those figures are 310 and 390 lb above the corresponding generic lifted short-bed rows.
Do not apply the AT4X difference as an option formula to another body. The numbers describe complete source columns, not a portable package mass.
The LZ0 diesel range stays configuration-specific
Reviewed LZ0 base curb weights run from 5,120 lb for a 2WD Double Cab standard bed to 5,890 lb for the lifted AT4X short-bed Crew Cab. Non-lifted NHT rows reach 5,460 lb in the 4WD standard-bed Crew Cab.
A 3.0L Duramax badge still does not identify cab, bed, drive, lift or NHT. Confirm all of them before selecting one diesel value.
NHT changes are not one fixed weight
Across populated non-lifted cells, NHT changes published base curb weight by 40–260 lb depending on engine and body. The largest reviewed difference is the 2WD short-bed Crew Cab L84 branch, from 4,890 to 5,150 lb.
That variation shows why a universal Max Trailering Package add-on would be wrong. Use the exact same-column NHT cell and retain source blanks.
Base curb weight is not actual scale weight
The order guide labels these figures Base Curb weight. It does not assert that a truck with every installed option, accessory or modification will weigh exactly the same on a scale.
For payload or axle budgeting, weigh the truck in the intended operating condition with full fluids, occupants, hitch hardware and permanent equipment represented. Record both the source configuration and scale conditions.
Front and rear reference fields are not substitutes
GM's order-guide data also exposes front- and rear-weight metadata for model columns, but the published curb rows already provide the labeled base-curb result by engine and package. This page does not sum unlabeled metadata to invent missing cells.
Actual axle loads depend on equipment and load placement. Compare measured front and rear weights with the physical GAWR labels rather than distributing catalogue curb weight by assumption.
Curb weight does not calculate payload by itself
Payload requires the applicable GVWR and the truck's actual loaded baseline, while axle ratings and tire limits remain independent constraints. A base curb-weight cell alone cannot establish a safe remaining payload.
DCP-0380 retains the separate Sierra 1500 GVWR intent. Do not combine its rating matrix into this base-weight page or subtract mismatched cells. @link GVWR, GAWR and GCWR explained | /research/towing/gvwr-gawr-gcwr-explained @link How to read a payload label | /research/towing/how-to-read-payload-label
Towing capacity is an independent selector
Trailer ratings add axle, wheel, package, hitch and combination-weight conditions beyond the curb-weight inputs here. A heavier configuration may have different capability, but curb weight alone does not rank towing performance.
Use the separate towing guide and the actual truck's labels. Keep advertised maxima out of a base-curb-weight calculation. @link Sierra 1500 towing capacity | /research/specs/sierra-1500/towing-capacity @link Towing-capacity tool | /tools/towing-capacity
Dimensions help identify the body, not the weight
Cab, bed, drive and lift identities align with the 12-column dimensions guide, but matching exterior geometry does not choose an engine or NHT curb-weight row. Body and powertrain checks are both required.
Use dimensions for fit and base curb weight for configuration comparison, then verify the physical vehicle. @link 2026 Sierra 1500 dimensions | /research/specs/sierra-1500/dimensions
Canadian and U.S. order-guide rows were cross-checked
The U.S. vehicle ID 23160 and Canadian vehicle ID 23161 Specs matrices were retrieved on 13 September 2026. The labeled base-curb-weight cells match across the two market guides for all reviewed bodies, engines and NHT positions.
That agreement supports the published matrix but does not prove the installed equipment or present weight of an unseen Canadian VIN. Build records, labels and scale evidence remain controlling for the individual truck.
Source blanks remain unavailable
The guide contains intentionally blank combinations, including L87 and LZ0 in Regular Cab and several L3B, L84 and NHT lifted positions. This page renders them as unavailable rather than zero.
A later order-guide update or different model year may change availability. Recheck the applicable source instead of transferring a 2026 neighbouring value.
Source, date and claim limits
Numeric values come from GM Fleet's official 2026 Online Order Guide, independently queried for U.S. and Canadian Sierra 1500 Retail and Fleet vehicles. GMC's 2026 product page supplies current engine, trim and cab context.
No value is extended to 2025, the redesigned 2027 truck, a chassis cab, an altered pickup or an unreviewed VIN. This is not reliability or commerce research; no inventory, seller, dealer count, price or offer is inferred.
Sierra 1500 curb-weight questions and conclusion
What does a 2026 Sierra 1500 weigh? Official base curb weight spans 4,440–5,890 lb across the reviewed matrix. What does an LZ0 diesel weigh? Its populated source rows span 5,120–5,890 lb, but the exact body, drive, lift and NHT cell matters.
For a working calculation, preserve the source row, confirm build data, read the labels and weigh the truck. @link GMC Sierra 1500 model guide | /research/models/gmc-sierra-1500 @link Sierra 1500 diesel versus gas | /research/comparisons/sierra-1500-diesel-vs-gas @link Browse diesel trucks | /trucks
