RAM's official 2019 3500 pickup chart publishes 70 configuration-level maximum-trailer values from 13,660 to 35,100 lb. The low endpoint is a gas DRW Mega Cab 4x4 with a 3.73 axle; the high endpoint is a high-output Cummins DRW Regular Cab 4x2 with the Aisin transmission, 4.10 axle and 43,000-lb GCWR. Between them are ten body and drivetrain families, SRW and DRW branches, three engine/transmission paths, several GVWRs and six separately published gas box-delete configurations. A maximum trailer figure is not a VIN-wide or engine-wide promise, and the chart does not convert its rating into a current payload, legal allowance or installed-hitch result.
Direct answer: 13,660 to 35,100 lb across completed pickups
The 35,100-lb maximum appears only on the 4x2 Regular Cab, 8-foot-box, DRW row with the high-output 6.7L Cummins, AS69RC Aisin six-speed, 4.10 axle, 14,000-lb GVWR and 43,000-lb GCWR. The adjacent 3.73 row is 33,700 lb; changing one selector changes the result.
The 13,660-lb minimum is the 4x4 Mega Cab, 6-foot-5 box, gas DRW row with the 6.4L HEMI, 8HP75 eight-speed, 3.73 axle, 14,000-lb GVWR and 21,500-lb GCWR. Neither endpoint represents every RAM 3500.
| Reference | Exact configuration | Published maximum trailer |

| SRW maximum | 4x2 Regular Cab 8-foot / high-output Cummins / Aisin / 3.73 / 34,630 GCWR | 26,990 lb |
| DRW maximum | 4x2 Regular Cab 8-foot / high-output Cummins / Aisin / 4.10 / 43,000 GCWR | 35,100 lb |
| Box-delete range | Six gas SRW body/drivetrain families; incomplete vehicle | 14,010–17,370 lb |
A towing number belongs to one complete selector chain
Start with 4x2 or 4x4, cab and box. Then select SRW or DRW, engine, transmission and axle ratio before reading GVWR, GAWR, GCWR and maximum trailer from the same row. A nearby row may look similar while carrying a different base weight, rear-axle rating or combined rating.
The chart's values are estimated and rounded to the nearest 10 lb. RAM also says upfit or aftermarket equipment is not included in base weight. Actual occupants, cargo, hitch hardware, accessories and tongue or pin load consume the truck's available carrying capacity.
Three powertrain paths, not one Cummins column
The standard-output and high-output diesels use different transmissions and GCWR branches. The 68RFE row cannot be exchanged for the Aisin row merely because both engines are 6.7L Cummins units. Gas provides both 3.73 and 4.10 axle rows; diesel SRW uses 3.73 in this chart, while several diesel DRW groups publish both 3.73 and 4.10.
| Engine | Transmission | Published axle pattern | Selection boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6.4L HEMI V8 with MDS | 8HP75 eight-speed | 3.73 and 4.10 | Gas SRW and selected DRW rows |
| 6.7L Cummins diesel | 68RFE six-speed | 3.73 SRW; 3.73/4.10 selected DRW | Standard-output diesel branch |
| 6.7L Cummins high output | AS69RC Aisin six-speed | 3.73 SRW; 3.73/4.10 selected DRW | High-output diesel branch |
All 4x2 completed-pickup trailer ratings
Slash pairs retain the source order: 3.73 first, 4.10 second. A single diesel value means only the 3.73 SRW row is published. DRW cells are absent for both short-box Crew Cab groups; they are not zero and are not filled from the long-box table.

The 4x4 matrix adds Mega Cab and retains separate RamBox rows. DRW appears only on the standard-box Mega Cab, Regular Cab long-box and Crew Cab long-box groups. The six remaining body groups publish SRW values only.

How the 70 completed-pickup ratings were counted
Four 4x2 body groups publish 28 trailer cells. Six 4x4 body groups publish 42 more. Repeated numbers in different configurations remain separate ratings because their selector chains differ. Headers, payload values, base weights, GAWR values and blanks are not counted as trailer ratings.
| Drive | Body groups | Published trailer cells |
|---|---|---|
| 4x2 | 4 | 28 |
| 4x4 | 6 | 42 |
| Total | 10 | 70 |
GVWR and GCWR stay attached to the selected row
Gas SRW GVWR runs from 10,700 to 11,400 lb across the published bodies. Diesel SRW rows run from 11,500 to 12,300 lb. Every completed-pickup DRW row is 14,000 lb GVWR, but that shared label does not make their base weights, payloads, GCWRs or trailer ratings interchangeable.
GCWR spans 21,500 to 43,000 lb. It is a combined limit, not a trailer rating by itself. The same 43,000-lb GCWR can still yield different maximum-trailer numbers because truck base weight and configuration change.
| Branch | GVWR pattern | GCWR pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Gas SRW | 10,700–11,400 | 21,500 at 3.73; 24,000 at 4.10 |
| Standard Cummins SRW | 11,500–12,300 | 28,300 |
| High-output Cummins SRW | 11,500–12,300 | 32,240–34,630 |
| Gas DRW | 14,000 | 21,500 at 3.73; 25,000 at 4.10 |
| Standard Cummins DRW | 14,000 | 28,300/30,300 |
| High-output Cummins DRW | 14,000 | 41,600/43,000 |
SRW and DRW are different truck branches
DRW is not a multiplier applied to an SRW rating. The 4x2 Regular Cab high-output diesel moves from 26,990 lb at SRW to 33,700 or 35,100 lb at DRW, depending on axle ratio. In the gas branch, DRW can even have a lower trailer figure at the same axle because the heavier truck consumes more of the combined allowance.
Confirm the physical rear-wheel configuration and the certification labels. Wheel count, axle ratings, tires, installed hitch and loading all matter after the catalogue row is selected.
Axle ratio changes the result only where RAM prints a row
The 4.10 axle raises the gas GCWR by 2,500 lb in SRW branches and by 3,500 lb in the completed-pickup DRW branches. Standard diesel DRW moves from 28,300 to 30,300 lb GCWR. High-output diesel DRW moves from 41,600 to 43,000 lb.
Those patterns help read the chart but do not create absent cells. High-output diesel SRW is printed only at 3.73, so a hypothetical 4.10 SRW number is not calculated here.
Box-delete configurations are a separate incomplete-vehicle matrix
RAM's separate 2019 box-delete/IVD chart publishes twelve gas SRW trailer ratings across six RAM 3500 body and drivetrain families. The chart also carries MCVW, frontal-area and maximum-upfit fields. Those rows do not describe a finished pickup box and are not mixed into the 70 completed-pickup count.
| Box-delete family | 3.73 | 4.10 | Max upfit weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4x2 Regular Cab | 14,870 | 17,370 | 2,994 |
| 4x2 Crew Cab 6-foot-5 frame | 14,480 | 16,980 | 2,516 |
| 4x2 Crew Cab 8-foot frame | 14,370 | 16,870 | 2,481 |
| 4x4 Regular Cab | 14,510 | 17,010 | 2,631 |
| 4x4 Crew Cab 6-foot-5 frame | 14,180 | 16,680 | 2,222 |
| 4x4 Crew Cab 8-foot frame | 14,010 | 16,510 | 2,123 |
Do not treat maximum upfit weight as payload or trailer capacity
The box-delete chart defines maximum completed vehicle weight as base weight plus permanently attached upfit weight. Its maximum-upfit field is therefore a body-completion constraint, not cargo payload and not extra trailer capacity. A finished body changes actual weight and rear-axle loading.
The box-delete source publishes no diesel RAM 3500 row. This guide does not borrow diesel values from completed pickups or a later model year.
What RAM's source does and does not establish
The completed-pickup chart identifies its method as SAE J2807 compliant, calls its values estimated, shows pounds and rounds payload and maximum trailer weight to the nearest 10 lb. It says payload equals GVWR minus base weight, ratings must not be exceeded and aftermarket equipment is not included in base weight.
The chart publishes one maximum-trailer column. It does not supply a separate conventional, fifth-wheel and gooseneck matrix on these pages. Hitch receiver and hardware limits still control, so the maximum-trailer column is not converted into a hitch-method promise.
Payload and towing cannot both be treated as available maxima
A trailer adds tongue or pin weight to the truck. Occupants, cargo, accessories and hitch hardware also consume payload and can load the rear axle before the trailer reaches a catalogue maximum. Start with the vehicle's label, then calculate the planned loaded combination and verify scale weights.
The separate RAM 3500 payload, GVWR and curb-weight guides answer different questions. Do not use a towing table as a current remaining-payload calculator.
Candidate verification checklist
Confirm the 2019 model year, pickup versus box-delete body, cab, box, 4x2 or 4x4, SRW or DRW, engine, transmission and axle ratio. Photograph the certification and loading labels, obtain the factory build record and identify the installed hitch.
Then account for passengers, cargo, tools, accessories, body equipment and tongue or pin load. Check truck, trailer, combined and axle weights in the intended loaded condition. Use the lowest applicable vehicle, axle, tire, hitch, trailer or legal limit.
Canadian use requires the Canadian truck's own records
This U.S.-hosted manufacturer chart does not prove the original market or certified rating of an unseen Canadian VIN. A Canadian candidate still needs its physical labels, build documentation, installed-equipment limits and applicable provincial or territorial rules.
No tonne conversion is used to round a truck upward. The source pounds remain the evidence record.
FAQ: does every 2019 high-output Cummins RAM 3500 tow 35,100 lb?
No. High-output Cummins completed-pickup ratings in this chart range from 23,280 to 35,100 lb. Cab, box, drive, SRW or DRW, axle ratio, truck weight and GCWR all change the row. The maximum is one 4x2 Regular Cab DRW configuration.
FAQ: are RamBox and Mega Cab ratings interchangeable?
No. RamBox and standard-box rows have different base weights and trailer ratings. Mega Cab appears only in the 4x4 part of this chart, and its RamBox family is SRW-only. Missing DRW cells are not permission to use the standard-box Mega Cab rating.
