For a used 2019 RAM 3500, 'Cummins dually' is not a sufficiently precise specification or reliability verdict. The pickup offers standard- and high-output diesel branches, while a model-level recall search also returns chassis-cab-only records. Reviewed on 15 September 2026, this guide separates those applications, the relevant repair operations and selected factory ratings. Its 14 retrieved U.S. campaign entries are not 14 failures on every truck. The purchase decision still depends on current Canadian VIN information, documented remedies, service history, actual configuration and inspection.

The high-output badge changes more than the headline torque

RAM's manufacturer fleet guide explicitly identifies the 2019 model year, despite being stored in a /2020/ website folder. It lists the 6.4L gas engine at 410 hp and 429 lb-ft, standard 6.7L Cummins at 370 hp and 850 lb-ft, and RAM 3500 high-output Cummins at 400 hp and 1,000 lb-ft.

The exact pickup towing chart pairs the standard diesel with the 68RFE six-speed and the high-output diesel with the AS69RC Aisin six-speed. Gas uses the 8HP75 eight-speed. A seller's 'six-speed diesel' description therefore leaves an important distinction unresolved; verify the build and transmission rather than inferring it from rear-wheel count.

The 2019 manufacturer launch describes the redesigned Heavy Duty range, but new engineering and higher maximum ratings are not controlled durability results. This guide does not claim that the Aisin or 68RFE has a measured failure-rate advantage, or that all high-output engines share the recall scope of a chassis cab.

Do not assign chassis-cab engine campaigns to a pickup

Y21 / 21V439000 concerns specified 2019–2020 RAM 3500/4500/5500 cab chassis vehicles whose engine calibration may not warn about low oil volume. W57 / 20V511000 also specifies cab chassis vehicles; it addresses inadequate warm-up protection and potential connecting-rod damage through an engine-calibration update. Their appearance in a RAM 3500 search does not establish eligibility for a completed pickup.

Z20 / 22V140000 identifies RAM 2500, certain Durango vehicles and RAM 3500 cab chassis below 10,000-lb GVWR in its published population. Its ABS software action concerns an ESC malfunction indicator that may not illuminate. Do not turn it into a blanket 2019 RAM 3500 pickup recall.

These three records are retained as explicit scope exclusions, not silently omitted or used to inflate a pickup problem list. The other eleven entries still require VIN-level matching; their presence is not proof that every pickup configuration is affected.

Fuel leakage, pump failure and 68RFE venting are different records

V76 / 19V498000 concerns diesel fuel lines that may leak into the engine compartment; the stated operation is inspection and replacement of the lines as necessary. Y78 / 21V880000 concerns the high-pressure fuel pump and possible sudden engine stall. Its remedy includes pump replacement, PCM software and inspection or replacement of additional fuel-system components as needed. A fuel-line invoice does not document a pump remedy.

W03 / 20V043000 specifically names six-speed 68RFE-equipped 2019–2020 RAM 2500 and 3500 pickups. Heat and pressure may cause fluid leakage through the transmission dipstick tube; the repair combines a valve-body separator plate replacement with PCM reprogramming. Do not transfer this 68RFE scope to an AS69RC Aisin candidate without manufacturer VIN evidence.

Ask for campaign identifiers and completed operations, not simply 'fuel system done' or 'transmission serviced.' Active leaks, stalling, smoke or warning history need professional assessment before further use. Repair records show what was done to a particular vehicle; they do not establish a population-wide failure frequency.

Wheel-stud history makes old torque literature a special concern

Y26 / Y36 / 21V398000 states that incorrect service and owner-manual information could lead to over-tightened flanged lug nuts, broken wheel studs and possible wheel separation. The published remedy includes correcting the torque instructions and inspecting the studs, replacing them when necessary.

Consequently, an original 2019 manual is not enough to certify that the wheel hardware was serviced to the corrected instruction. Obtain the applicable current manufacturer procedure and campaign record for the candidate's wheel hardware. This guide deliberately does not reproduce the archived manual's flanged-lug torque number or treat a generic tire-rotation receipt as stud inspection evidence.

A dually's wheel, tire and axle condition also matters independently of the recall: document tire fitment and condition, wheel-service history and the intended loaded axle weights. Rear air suspension or a high trailer rating does not increase a damaged wheel assembly's capacity.

Seven further records need their own completion evidence

The two curtain-airbag entries remain separate records; no automatic supersession is assumed. The camera action concerns an image that remains displayed after leaving reverse, not a missing-image fault copied from a later model year.

Air-suspension behaviour needs the right test conditions

The externally archived 2019 manufacturer owner manual is a PS edition carrying U.S. metadata, even though its archive path contains /ca/. Its selected air-suspension pages explain Normal Ride Height and Alternate Trailer Height, and explicitly note that most 3500 models will not lower to Alternate Trailer Height when unloaded. An unloaded demonstration alone therefore cannot prove failure.

Those pages also describe Tire/Jack Mode, which disables automatic leveling for tire-changing work, and the high-pressure-system service warning. Have a qualified technician evaluate fitted suspension under the correct conditions and check for leaks, warnings or disabled modes. Do not use a normal operating limitation as an excuse for unresolved symptoms.

This was a selected-page review of the 696-page archived manual, not full maintenance validation. Its historical wheel-torque text is specifically not relied on because of the later stud campaign. A separately recovered early diesel supplement still needs application/revision reconciliation before it supplies additional service claims.

A conditional buying verdict, not a best-year ranking

The 35,100-lb example belongs to a specific Regular Cab 4x2 DRW high-output/4.10 row; it is not every RAM 3500's capacity. The source has one maximum-trailer column rather than separate hitch-method matrices. Match the truck's actual labels, installed hitch and loaded weights, including occupants, cargo, hardware and tongue or pin load within all relevant limits. Box-delete and chassis-cab data remain outside these completed-pickup examples.

Before purchase, resolve current manufacturer VIN actions and arrange an independent inspection of fuel and transmission leaks, cold starting, shifting, wheel studs, brakes, steering, tires, suspension and modifications. A replacement Aisin changes the K1 bulletin check

For this 2019 truck, Stellantis bulletin 21-002-23 Rev. B has a narrow replacement-history condition: the 2019–2021 model-year branch applies only when a complete NEW transmission was replaced between 1 February and 18 December 2022. It also specifies Aisin equipment and a vehicle build cutoff of 1 December 2022. Check AS69RC/DF2 identification and the replacement invoice; do not apply this K1 snap-ring bulletin to every original 2019 Aisin or a 68RFE. P0731-00 and loss of gears 1–4 warrant qualified diagnosis. This is not a failure-rate estimate, Canadian VIN clearance or a promise of current warranty coverage.
