Make DPF history central to the comparison

For rising oil level or fuel odour, preserve the trend or sample and obtain measured diagnosis. Ford's warning about higher-sulfur fuel is a defined operating condition, not proof that every level increase has the same cause.
Do not treat an oil change as repair evidence for an unresolved dilution or lubrication concern. Establish the source and whether operation continued while oil condition was compromised.
Audit fuel type, filtration and water handling
For the Canadian/U.S. configuration, Ford specifies ULSD and documents a frame-mounted HFCM, engine-mounted secondary filter and water separator. Ask for both filter histories, fuel sources, water events and contamination findings.
If fuel-system work was completed, require original complaint, measured tests, complete parts scope, installer and post-repair result. New injectors or filters do not automatically prove upstream supply and contamination were addressed.
